I personally thought he might have been a little higher up on the list but I guess his experience and as you said small sample size hurts him. He is a guy I am very excited to watch this year.

Notes from Olin's thoughts on Oliver
- When Nick Harvey was hurt last year and Charles Oliver stepped in, I thought you didn’t notice any difference. He was a freshman and he stepped into that position and kept the status quo. Some might say he did better. He’s a kid that showed flashes, it’s not a big sample size, but you liked what you saw when he was out there. He could upgrade the position.
- He fits the makeup of what you are looking for in a corner. He’s a bigger guy. They want a good size corner who can get up in a guy's face and jam him at the line and run with him. I think we saw some of that from him. He will still be growing in some ways and getting better. We saw enough to think of him as an up and comer. Can he arrive this year? I think he can. I think he’s one of the better prospects, one of the ones I am most optimistic about.
- He was one of those that became a better known prospect late in the recruiting cycle. They need a guy who will emerge, someone who can be a fixture for a couple of years and play that position well. A&M could have two of the bigger sets of corners with him and Priest Willis. He’s got to prove it, but the size is there. We think the speed and ability is there. You won’t know until they start playing, but there are reasons to think he is the guy and to be optimistic about him.
- One of the great things about A&M’s staff is that they have coaches who have been longtime coaches and know how to develop talent. Oliver has ability, some of it probably still raw, and he has that coach who will develop him. Ron Cooper has a heck of a resume and is well known for developing guys. That’s what this team needs. There is a lot of young talent that needs to be developed. Oliver is one of those guys.
