Kirk, Watts and Martin named to media's preseason All-SEC teams
SEC Media Days have finally come to a close, and the media's preseason predictions and All-SEC teams have officially been released.
Christian Kirk leads the way for the Aggies, being named first team All-SEC at three positions: wide receiver, return specialist and all-purpose player. The only WR who received more votes was Alabama's Calvin Ridley.
Armani Watts was also named to the All-SEC first team at defensive back, following Alabama's Minka Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison. Yes, Bama had the first and second first-team defensive backs.
And finally, A&M offensive lineman Koda Martin was named third team All-SEC.
Alabama led the way with a ridiculous TEN first-team All-SEC selections, and the Ags tied Georgia for second-most with 4. Of course, Christian Kirk made up three of those.
Total first team All-SEC selections:
Alabama: 10
Texas A&M: 4
Georgia: 4
Auburn: 2
Florida: 2
LSU: 2
Arkansas: 1
Ole Miss: 1
The media also picked their order of finish for the SEC overall, along with each division. Below is how they see the 2017 season ending up.
SEC West (First place votes in parenthesis)
1. Alabama (225)
2. Auburn (13)
3. LSU (4)
4. Arkansas (1) 🤔
5. Texas A&M
6. Mississippi State
7. Ole Miss
SEC East
1. Georgia (138)
2. Florida (96)
3. Tennessee (3)
4. South Carolina (5)
5. Kentucky
6. Vanderbilt
7. Missouri
And, predictably, they picked Alabama to win the SEC Championship.
