Texas A&M Football Recruiting
Max Wright recaps BBQ weekend, details his relationship w/ Terry Price
Key notes from Max Wright interview
- The BBQ was a lot of fun. A really great time, I really enjoyed being with the other commits. It was my first time on campus as a commit. It was really fun getting to joke around and mess around with those guys.
- Me and Colten Blanton met each other through the recruiting process, and one night he drove to Katy and met me at Chick-fil-a and we talked for two hours. Just a really great guy and we have a great friendship.
- I did a lot of recruiting this weekend, but I didn’t want to overload guys. I just told them why A&M was the greatest school in the country. I talked to Terrance Marshall and Jaylen Waddle, those are a couple of studs. As a player it’s not really recruiting, it’s more building relationships with guys.
- I had a lot of interactions with current players, me and Nick Starkel had a home run derby. They are awesome guys and they made as feel like we were a part of the family. It was a lot of fun hanging out with those guys.
- It was awesome being with Coach Price. Ive known him since freshman year, it was a lot of fun walking in and having him form tackle me with a hug. He’s a lot like a father figure to me and you see that with other guys. I’m really excited for him to be my future coach.
- My parents where happy when I chose Texas A&M. I’m a mamma's boy and she really enjoyed me staying close to home. It was cool getting to talk with them, they didn’t really make the decision hard at all.
- My technique this past year was very good. Coming off my ACL tear, I wasn’t physically where I wanted to be, but I really think my technique was good. After the injury I saw the game a different way and tried to implement that into my game.
- Coach Price came up to watch the spring game and I am playing a lot quicker and stronger. After making a play in the game I popped up and looked and Coach Price was looking at me and he was fired up.
- I want to get Joseph Ossai from Conroe Oak Ridge and Trevor Trout out of St. Louis. Me and him go way back, went to a camp together freshman year. Keondre Coburn is another guy, he is a stud. I would also say Nana Osafo-Mensah, whether its outside backer or defensive end, that guy is good. If we can round out this defensive line class with some more players, it will be a lot of fun.
