TexAgs Top 118: Updated Texas Class of 2018 Recruiting Rankings
The TexAgs recruiting team has been on the road visiting numerous
high schools and attending various combines and camps during the spring
evaluation period, observing the top players in the state of Texas. We've come back home, exchanged notes and at times held some
spirited debates in finalizing our May version of the TexAgs Class of
2018 Top 118 in Texas.
Keontay Ingram (No. 26) - The big back from Carthage has performed well at camps this spring and has shown to have the most well-rounded skill set at the running back position. His combination of quick feet, size, patience to wait for the hole and vision are all assets that have separated Ingram from the rest of the ball-carriers in the state.
Overall,
the 2018 class is proving to have extraordinary depth in the mid-to-low
four star range of prospects. An all-time high of 50 players have been
graded at 90 or better (four-stars). Of those 50, 16 players have
already given a verbal commitment to a school nine months before signing
day. Of the top 100 prospects on the latest TexAgs recruiting list, 32
have chosen a school with nine months until Signing Day 2018.
Manvel receiver Jalen
Preston (pictured above) retains the top spot in the state, while Houston Lamar cornerback
Anthony Cook leapfrogged several top-10 prospects to grab the No. 2
spot. Spring Westfield defensive tackle Keondre Coburn comes in at No. 3,
while Ridge Point's Mustapha Muhammad sits at No. 4. Angleton safety BJ Foster rounds out the top five.
While many of the top
prospects from our February list held steady in our May update, there were several big movers up the rankings after impressive
showings in the spring. Here are a few headliners who made a big climb
up the charts:Keontay Ingram (No. 26) - The big back from Carthage has performed well at camps this spring and has shown to have the most well-rounded skill set at the running back position. Leon O'Neal
(No. 8) - We all knew he was a big hitter, but he has shown tremendous
range at camps and during the 7-on-7 season that makes him an elite
prospect.
This one should come as no surprise. Bush had a phenomenal spring on the camp circuit and has been working hard to improve his feet and change of direction.
Tommy
Bush (No. 22) - This one should come as no surprise. He had a
phenomenal spring
on the camp circuit and has been working hard to improve his feet and
change of direction. His combination of size and his ability to
separate from the defender make him a very valuable prospect for any
