Texas A&M Softball completes sweep of nationally-ranked Georgia, 2-0
GAME #45: Texas A&M 2, Georgia 0
On Sunday, the No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies defeated the No. 22 Georgie Bulldogs, 2-0, to complete the weekend sweep.
Georgia struggled at the plate throughout the game. A&M pitcher Lexi Smith, who had a great performance in the circle, led the Aggies to victory and kept the Bulldogs off the board throughout the game.
“I thought Lexi was terrific out there in the circle today. She’s throwing with a lot of confidence. We kept looking to take her out but decided it was unnecessary because it seemed like she was on a roll and feeling good about herself,” A&M coach Jo Evans said.
Though they got off to a slow start, the Aggies eventually found their collective stride at the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning when they scored their only two runs of the game. Riley Sartain and Sarah Hudek got base hits, and Kristen Cuyos flew out to left field to advance Hudek to second base and score Sartain. Ashley Walters sent an RBI-single up the middle to plate Hudek.
The Aggies will travel to Lexington, Kentucky, this coming weekend for a three-game series with the Kentucky Wildcats.
