Texas A&M Softball takes series over Missouri, wins game three, 7-3
GAME #31: Texas A&M 7, Missouri 3
The sun was hot at the Aggie Softball Complex on Sunday, but the Texas A&M softball team was hotter.
Although the team got off to a slow start, No. 7 Texas A&M, who is now 7-2 in conference play, had a solid performance. The Ags won, 7-3, and clinched a tough series over the Missouri Tigers.
The Tigers managed to get three runs in the first few innings of the game, but that’s all they were able to muster. Pitcher Lexi Smith stepped into in the circle for the Aggies in the second inning and worked her magic throughout the game.
“Smith came into the game and gave us some momentum. She’s exactly the person I’d want to put in when the bases are loaded and we are in a bind,” A&M coach Jo Evans said. “The thing about her is that she is such a competitor and a fighter. She wants the ball. This kid is just a baller.”
The Aggies warmed up in the top of the second and stayed hot through the seventh inning. Sarah Hudek had a very strong performance at the plate. She hit a home run down the left field line, scoring both Ashley Walters and Kristen Cuyos. Tori Vidales came through in the bottom of the fourth inning with another home run.
“We came out, and we fought. There was no way we were going to lay down like yesterday,” Evans said.
The Ags will be back in action on Wednesday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. at The Aggie Softball Complex.
