The 4th quarter was an emotional rivalry game. The OT was textbook Blair basketball. Congrats to Tech--especially Jada--for bringing heart and game. Congrats to our Ags for taking the breath and emotion out of Tech in OT.

Aggie Women's Hoops holds off Texas Tech in overtime, 98-90
The Texas A&M Women’s Basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season after defeating former Big XII foe Texas Tech in overtime, 98-90.
The Aggies had their hands full with the Lady Raiders for most of the game, which included 22 lead changes and 8 ties.
The game was reminiscent of the rivalry between the two schools as the contest came down to the final seconds and eventually needed an overtime period. On a put-back by Jada Terry, Texas Tech went ahead, 81-80, forcing Texas A&M to call a timeout with 6.6 seconds remaining in the game. On the ensuing possession, Danni Williams banked in a three-pointer to put the Aggies up by two, 83-81.
The Lady Raiders were not done, and Arella Guirantes hit a baseline jumper as time expired to tie the game and force overtime.
The Aggies started strong in overtime and didn’t look back, outscoring the Lady Raiders, 15-7, in the extra frame. A&M started the overtime period by going on a 10-4 run and held off Texas Tech to win the game.
“We just came together as a team and said that we weren’t going to lose this game after coming so far,” said Danni Williams.
Despite a stellar scoring performance from Recee Caldwell, who tallied 38 points and went 7-12 from three, Tech was unable to finish the Aggies in OT.
Junior transfer and former Texas A&M center Jada Terry returned to Aggieland, this time as a Lady Raider, and posted 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Danni Williams finished the game with a career-high 32 points, making her the first Aggie to score 30-plus points in a game since Courtney Walker scored 31 against Florida on Feb. 4th, 2016. Williams was 8-19 from the field, 4-8 from three and went 12-13 from the free throw line.
“Danni is a rhythm shooter, and when she is in a rhythm, she needs the ball” said Coach Blair. “What we need to do is keep getting her to the free throw line.”
Anriel Howard recorded her first career double-double after finishing with a career-high 17 points and 16 rebounds. Khaalia Hillsman posted her second consecutive double-double, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Two more Aggies posted A&M career-highs on the night. Taylor Cooper finished with 12 points and Jasmine Lumpkin ended the contest with 14 points, respectively.
Coach Blair alluded to the level of competition that Texas Tech brought to Aggieland.
“We just saw an NCAA tournament-caliber game,” said Blair. “That is as good as we can play and as good as they can play, and Texas Tech deserves a lot of credit.”
“I am pleased, and our coaching staff did a great job in preparing for this game. We are going to have a lot of games this year that are down to the wire.”
The Aggies will be back in action on Sunday when they take on Stephen F. Austin at 4 pm at Reed Arena.

Our team chemistry this year is incredible, and I give this whole team the credit. When we get down, we don’t get scared or intimidated.
