Nick Banks discusses his resurgence, taking on Alabama at Olsen

On the crowd at Mississippi State...

"It was an awesome experience, especially to be able to go in there and sweep them and give us a little taste of what postseason will be like. The way we played, I think it's really special and something to look forward to when we get deeper in the season."

On his mentality approaching the plate against Mississippi State...

"Just not trying to do to much; to stay within myself and let the guys behind me take care of it. One thing Coach always says is, 'Get it to the next batter,' and that kind of helps you stay in the moment and not try to do too much — and it worked out."

On hitting in the two-spot in the lineup...

"We always preach approach and everything, so the approach is still the same and I'm still an aggressive hitter. I would just say all-in-all, I'm actually just starting to hit the ball a little bit better. (Ryne) Birk has played really well in that role as well, driving in a lot of runs, but once again it's not about me, it's about the team and taking it one step at a time."

On being named SEC Player of the Week...

"It's a great honor, especially for me and Hunter Melton to go back-to-back. It's really something special and shows you how deep our team really is — and when we are staying within ourselves as a team, how good we can be.

"I couldn't be in that situation unless I had my teammates behind me getting on base or just picking me up if I am down, which they have been early in season when I wasn't playing how I wanted to play. They have all had my back, and I have to give them all the credit."

On the focus going into the Alabama series...

"Today we were worried about practice — we weren't thinking about Alabama. Now, practice is over, so it's all Alabama. So, we are just going to take it one day at a time like we always do and stay in the moment. You have to trust in the process and you can't get too ahead of yourself."

"I've actually had it since my freshman year and I wasn't going to mess with anything because I thought I had a pretty good freshman year. Then it turned over to sophomore year as well, so it's kind of just stuck with me and I didn't really want to mess with anything. It's kind of a superstition with me. If I'm playing well I am going to keep the song. I've been blessed to have two good past years, so I've kind of kept with it and now fallen in love with it."

On favorite part of being an Aggie...

"Definitely the 12th Man, it's something special. I've played at LSU and Mississippi State and a lot of people say that that's the best atmosphere in college baseball, but for me — I may be a little biased — playing here, nothing beats it. When they are behind you and swaying before the game and then in the ninth inning, it's a feeling you can't really describe."
