Ags, we need to talk.

Not about the latest football recruiting news, or to take a look back on the baseball season, or even think about the upcoming fall sports seasons. We need to talk about something that goes far beyond the boundaries of any College Station playing surface.

We're talking, of course, about our own Clay Honeycutt's debut on the CBS reality TV show Big Brother.

I am an avid fan of the show and have religiously watched every episode for the past three years. With that being said, when I heard Clay was selected for the upcoming season I was very curious to see what would be in store. Tread carefully, there are SPOILER ALERTS below (I wouldn't want to ruin any goodwill among the TexAgs faithful by revealing anything about a show that I'm suuuuure so many of you watch regularly...)

Although I don't know Clay personally, I was most interested to see how he would be cast in the show. Obviously, they can't have any "normal people" in the house...everyone always seems like they have to be some caricature of themselves. And sure enough, the producers didn't disappoint in casting Clay as your classic Texas cowboy (maybe now is the right time to mention that in his introduction he was seen throwing a football in blue jeans and cowboy boots...shirtless).

It seems like he also has embraced his role as the "hot" guy of the house, and as some in the TexAgs forums have pointed out, fellow contestant Shelli seems to have taken an immediate liking to Clay. Here's to hoping that if Clay lays a smooth line or two on Shelli later in the season, he's repping his maroon and white at the time (and that if he bombs, he's rocking burnt orange). Not that we need the recruiting help.

Anyway, you guys came here for a recap right? Every season the first week of the show is kind of slow. This is because they are introducing each of the houseguests to the fans and that takes up the majority of the hour. With that being the case, not too much happened. The big event of Wednesday's episode was an HOH (Head of Household) competition, where the contestants play a silly game to win advantages in the house. This was Clay's first chance to stand out as a former football player and elite athlete, which is still a secret to the rest of the house, by the way.

Unfortunately, the competition for Clay's group was a game where you stood on a moving beam and had to catch tomatoes to put into your bin. As far as I know that's not an event in the NFL combine nor a drill that the Ags run during spring practices. Clay was confident in his catching abilities, but unfortunately the moving beam got the best of him and sadly he was one of the first ones to be eliminated. Don't worry though! Despite his early exit, his status on the show was not affected in any way.

On Thursday night's episode, 8 more houseguests moved in. He didn't have a prominent role on that episode because we were getting to know the other 8 players. We did see him repping his "HOWDY" shirt though. Whoop! That is, until for an unknown reason they made him flip it inside out.

The next episode is Sunday night on CBS and the first elimination show is next Wednesday at 8/7 CT. I haven't seen any signs of Clay being a target for elimination and I also have a feeling the ladies will want to keep him around as long as possible, especially if he's shirtless.

We will see what happens, but for now, BTHO the houseguests Clay!

Obamacare, redefining marriage, and a crap tv show watched "religiously". Pray for this country and it's priorities.

That being said, hope he reps the Ags well.
