Aggie Softball improves to 27-9 after double header against SFA
Texas A&M Softball hosted a midweek double header against Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, emerging victorious in both games and improving their record to 27-9 overall.
The Lady Jacks got things started right off the bat in the first inning of the opener with a homerun followed by another run scored after an error in the top of the second.
After an hour weather delay, the Aggies came out swinging in the bottom of the third with a homerun from freshmen Tori Vidales, her ninth of the season. Another error made by the Lady Jacks in the bottom of the fourth allowed Erica Russell to cross home, tying the game 2-2.
Still tied two innings later, with the bases loaded, the Aggies stepped it up in the bottom of the sixth, scoring one run and taking the win over the Lady Jacks.
Game two against Stephen F. Austin got started with a bomb to left center from Kristin Cuyos, her fifth of the season.
The Aggies kept the ball rolling in the bottom of the third with another homerun, this time from Cali Lanphear. A&M took advantage of a wild pitch later in the inning, which brought Abby Donnell home.

The Aggies stretched the lead later in the game when April Ryan was quick on her feet
and was able to steal home, advancing the score to 4-0 along the way.
Two more runs were scored in the bottom of the fifth giving the Aggies a 6-0 lead. Erica Russell led off the inning with a double off the right field wall, followed by a ground ball toward second, putting Vidales on as well. The catcher, Ashley Walters, made it on with a pop up that fell right in front of the Lady Jacks center fielder, allowing both runners to advance, resulting in another run.
A&M scored its final run after a fielder's choice put Cuyos on first. Walters was forced out at second on the play, but Vidales advanced to third. A single up
the middle from Donnell brought Vidales home, moving the Ags score to the final 6-0 mark.
The Aggies host Georgia Tech on Friday at 6:30 and Saturday at 2:00 and 4:00.
