Aggie signees dominate the state hoops tournament
For all who hadn't seen it collected together in one place yet, a summary of Texas A&M's four basketball signees' trips this past weekend to the final rounds of the UIL Tournament in San Antonio:
Five games.
128 points.
64 rebounds.
Two state titles.
One crazy game-winner.
Madison fell to Bridgeport in the 4A semifinal, but not without a 27-point, 12-rebound effort and a particularly strong second half from Admon Gilder. He was named to the 4A All-Tournament Team.
Elijah Thomas, meanwhile, tossed in a combined 33 points and 23 rebounds between Lancaster's final two games to pave the way for the Tigers' 5A state title and earn himself All-Tournament and MVP honors.
Tyler Davis scored 13 with nine boards in Plano West's semifinal win against Irving MacArthur and 14/6 in the 6A state title game win against Clear Lake. He, too, was named to the All-Tournament team.
But D.J. Hogg left as the undeniable story. Between the two games the West wing shooter racked up 41 and 14 — and one stark legacy. In the title game Hogg scored 16 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, took late charges and essentially shot the Wolves back into contention.
Then, in a 54-54 tie Hogg took the ball with time winding down, dribbled to his left and did this:

Just the 6A state title on a buzzer-beater. No big.
Hogg, naturally, was named to the All-Tournament Team and received 6A MVP.
The four signees that make up a national top-five recruiting class will now count down the days until they join the program in Aggieland. As will we.
