Texas A&M Football
“Baseball was actually my first sport and I played it up to 8th or 9th grade. I started playing football around nine and played three years from peewee on until I outgrew the weight class. I remember not being able to drink milk or eat breakfast before games so I could make weight. We had a star studded team back then, including a guy you might remember, Terrence Murphy. I was wearing 72 and he had some flashy number just like he had at A&M. Every time he got the ball he scored and you’d hear the parents on the sideline screaming, 'Go Terrence, Go Terrence!' I always bring that up to him when we get together.”
“A&M had been writing me, wanting me to come to junior day. I actually went to junior day and I wasn’t a huge fan of A&M, but when I went to junior day, it wasn’t anything to do with athletics it was just academics and being on campus; I really did feel a spirit. The campus and people and the town reminded me of Tyler. Football was the heart of the town.”
“I got the feeling every time I came to A&M and I was around people I know, there is something about this town. Terrence had a big part in that, he would show me around and I felt at home. I wanted to commit right then and there and RC wouldn’t let me do it. I was scheduled to go to a day camp at Texas the next week and he told me not to rush myself. He asked me what position I wanted to play and I said defensive end, he looked at me up and down and said, 'You’re going to be an outside linebacker. You’ll still rush the passer, just from a two point stance.'"
“I went to Texas and we were all huddled up shouting, 'Texas, Texas, Texas' pointing the horns up to the sky, it didn’t even feel right doing the horns symbol. I talked to Coach Brown and he let me pick up Earl Campbell’s Heisman trophy, mom and dad were ooing and awing and I was just reserved thinking, 'This guy talks too fast.' I was asking about the guys coming in and he was saying, 'You’re better than him, he’s not going to play.' I was thinking, 'You’re just going to say that to the next guy as soon as I leave this office.' I just had a better feeling and vibe with not only A&M but the coaching staff.”
“I had played defensive end my whole career and I felt like I didn’t have the body type to be a 4-3 defensive end but if I could have come off the outside like a Von Miller I feel like I would’ve had more success, but I enjoyed being a linebacker.”

Key quotes from Justin Warren interview
“I’ve always been a competitor, even before I got into football I always wanted to win. I see this as another opportunity to mature and grow, I have a family now so I’m really focused on winning the game of life. That’s something I learned at Texas A&M, you always try the best you can.”“Baseball was actually my first sport and I played it up to 8th or 9th grade.
