The 12th Man ushered in the redeveloped Kyle Field era in epic fashion, as an estimated 55,000 Aggies practiced yells and prepared to BTHO Lamar. TexAgs' own Gabe Bock spoke to the assembled crowd.

Enjoy! It was an absolute thrill to be able to deliver this speech. Want a backstory? I worked all day Friday on my Midnight Yell script. But when I stood before the 12th Man, I threw the script out and emotion took over. Incredible scene! A record breaking crowd for Yell Practice. Very blessed to be a small part of such an amazing night of Aggie Spirit!

If you want to compare what I had PREPARED to say to what I actually said once I grabbed the mic, here is the script that I put together. It's quite a bit different than what came out but I decided to throw the script out when I saw the 12th Man in living color. They want the speech between 2-3 minutes and it went a touch over 3:00 as is...so it was probably good to end when I did and not have it drag on. It felt right to end it when I did.

Here you go...

Howdy! So honored and blessed to be here and get a chance to talk to the 12th Man the finest and most supportive fan base in sports! Look around, Aggies how about this stadium? Only halfway finished new Kyle Field is a representation of the incredibly bright direction and future of Aggie Football. I think our own Stewart Wade at TexAgs said it best: "It's a new Kyle Field but it's the same 12th Man!"I have been blessed with an opportunity to talk Aggie Football on the radio every day and I feel strongly in saying that the future of the Aggies is as bright as it's ever been. With so much excitement in the air I can't help but think about one of my close friends and fellow media members, Homer Jacobs, who died unexpectedly last Tuesday. Homer was one of the finest people and most devoted Aggies you'll ever meet. He started 12th Man Magazine and worked inside Kyle Field for more than 2 decades. Many of you have been impacted by Homer's work over the past 25 years. Homer had a little secret he always wanted to be a Yell Leader. He dreamed of being right here, telling fables to the 12th Man and leading Yells. In a way, I feel like Homer is with us right now and that I'm representing him tonight by being here. Please join me in a moment of silence for a friend to so many of us Homer Jacobs.Homer would want us to get fired up to Beat the Hell out of Lamar! He would want us to rock Kyle Field tonight, tomorrow and every Saturday this fall.Let's have a great Yell Practice but before we do got a little story for ya, Ags! I'm a first generation Aggie who arrived on campus in the Fall of 2000 and I remember attending my first ever Midnight Yell. It was back before everyone had a cell phone and we still brought lighters for when they turned out the lights. It was at that first Yell Practice that I fell in love with Aggieland that is when I officially became a devoted member of the 12th Man.Some of you are attending your first Yell Practice let me say that while it's always good to be an Aggie, there has never been a better time to be a student at Texas A&M than right now. Just look around so much growth so much commitment yet the same tradition and the same values that have been there for decades are still in place today. Freshmen let me hear from the freshmen! Before you walk across the stage before you graduate from A&M, the Aggie football team will win a national championship mark it down. Everything is in place A&M has the perfect coach at the perfect time for this school they finest stadium in the country and just as important the mighty 12th Man!The next step on that journey is tomorrow night at 6:30 against the Lamar Cardinals and I'll leaver you with this: The Cardinals' head coach is a t-sip. Beat the Hell out of Lamar! Gig 'Em!

Wow. What an amazing demonstration of the Fightin' Texas Aggie spirit. Nice job, Gabe; a very personable and professional commentary. I'm sure Homer Jacobs is leading yells in heaven.

BTW what is with the 2" push-ups done by the SB yell leaders?!?!

Nicely done, Gabe. So true; ONLY IN AGGIELAND. I watched at the end of this video as the camera panned up into the east stands - 50,000 strong (in other words, the population of several medium sized cities in the state) - and Ags were in unison as always in yells and the Spirit. Good Lord, how I love that!!
