"We knew that coming into the game. They’re also known for transition offense and I think we did good defending that. But the rebounds, that’s just unacceptable and we’re going to have to work on that.”
1on1: Post-game with Courtney Williams after 86-77 loss to UT
On her overall thoughts of the game…
“I think we came out strong and hard. You could tell that we really wanted to win the game, but rebounds and second chance points are what really hurt us. We could have blocked out better. They’re tough on the boards, and that’s what Tennessee is known for."We knew that coming into the game. They’re also known for transition offense and I think we did good defending that. But the rebounds, that’s just unacceptable and we’re going to have to work on that.”
On how the early foul trouble played into the game…
“When Karla (Gilbert) got on the bench, it was a big game changer for them because she’s our best post player. They just went inside the whole game. They rebounded, and all their posts almost had double-doubles. It’s just a big loss for us.”On what was working for her and the team offensively on Saturday…
“I think we had confidence, Jordan (Jones) as well. Early in the season she wasn’t really shooting the threes, but the last few games she has been shooting it well. Courtney Walker is a great jump shooter, and for me, I wasn’t settling for shots. I was just trying to get to the hole and get fouled and earn and-ones.”On preparing for the NCAA Tournament…
“We have to work on our rebounding. We’re not really worried at all about the opponent and are just going to try to get ourselves better. When we know who we’re playing, then we’ll start preparing for them. Hopefully we can just be like the 2011 team and play hard and go on a run.”Never miss the latest news from TexAgs!
