How long do you want to ignore this user?
Anyone want to contact Mr. Mark D. Patrick of Schertz and let him know what a ***** he is?

Good riddance, Ags!

Re: “Aggies to SEC likely when, not if” (Sports, Aug. 11, by Brent Zwerneman):

Very interesting — the sooner the better. Texas A&M will end up like the Arkansas Razorbacks, who after leaving the Southwest Conference and heading to the greener SEC pastures found the grass wasn't greener there.

As it stands now, the Aggies are able to compete with UT and Oklahoma, the big boys of the Big 12, only every five or six years. When they get to the SEC, they'll realize they'll never be better than middle of the pack.

With them gone we won't have to hear the whining about why did UT get a TV network and we didn't. It is time for them to pull up their big-boy britches and head on down the road.

To all you Aggies, goodbye and good riddance, hopefully real soon. Don't let the door hit your backside on your way out.

Mark D. Patrick,

Schertz

Why is the butt hurt so strong about us leaving? Nobody did this for Neb or Colorado...

It seems they need us more than we need them.

uh, no, not really. that would make us look like ******s. and what exactly is different about his thoughts than every other uninformed and spiteful message we've seen from those being left behind?

Nope. It's not worth the effort to argue with the guy.
Try switching to decaffeinated if his letter is really up setting you this morning.

Who writes a letter? Can the E-N even afford an editor any more? Did this guy graduate high school? Is it safe to assume he is a wal-mart sip, who flunked out of SWT after a semester?

So many questions, so little time to worry about it. We have to start worrying about getting good seats to watch our Aggies welcome LSU, Bama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, etc. to Kyle Field.

The butthurt is strong because a LOT of schools stand to lose a lot from us leaving.

tu want to dominate CFB in the state of Texas. To do that, they need us in their shadow where we can be easily controlled and have nothing to offer a recruit they can't match or exceed, not as the lone representative of Texas in a higher profile conference.

Tard and cub need us because they don't care about each other and most of them are closet sip fans that really want the horns to succeed. So they NEED A&M coming to town to get their lazy and apathetic fans to show up. Ours is one of the only games that sells out their HS level stadiums year after year for them. Also, the butthurt demands them to believe that A&M is just as impotent and powerless as they are and if they are stuck being serfs on Massa Dodd's Plantation then by God A&M should have to be there with them!

Finally, OU realizes that without us, there is no one else to help them to try and check the endless abuse of power from Austin. Without us, OU is going to get politically steam rolled and be forced down into field hand status along with the other 7 dwarfs.

The butthurt is strong because everyone is tired of A&M siege against all remaining conference schools.

Not arguing that the reason A&M leaving isn't due to Texas. Simply saying time for Aggie to get off the fence (Akita is coming). Y'all would be equally livid if another school were doing this same stunt.

CU didn't blunder for 3 weeks, just sacked up and said "peace out".

Everybody ready to move on.

We are proving to the rest of the t.u. minions that WE do have the power to go wherever we want. We have the fans, the facilities, and the academics. What do the rest of the minions have to offer another conference? Absolutley nothing. And OU, if you continue your support of the t.u. "gorilla", don't be surprised that one day, you will find him sleeping in your living room and you will have nothing to say or anything you can do about it.

Probably not the best idea for that guy to be such a jerk considering his occupation appears (via Google search) to be a real estate agent.

Someone should should remind this moron that the reigning National Champion Women's basketball team resides in College Station.

Umm, did it ever occur to you that A&M is trying to get out as quickly and painlessly as possible, and the other schools are slowing the process down?

I think Arky got an NCAA basketball banner shortly after joining the SEC, and tu still does not have one in the B12!

How is it a "siege", when we're trying to leave?!

Cool. Then you just get all the other schools of the Bovine9 to agree they will not initiate any lawsuits against A&M or the SEC, then agree to exit fees equal to the avg of what NU and CU paid, and we'll announce. If your panties are in a wad because you don't have resolution right now of whether we're going to remain in the B9, then go troll the Baylor boards.

The way the sips and gaylor fans have responded to this is hilarious. I couldn't even begin to guess how many times over the last 10 years my sip friends have told me how insignificant A&M is and how the game between them and A&M wasn't a rivalry. OU is their only rival. Now suddenly we are throwing away one of the greatest rivalries in college football, running away from the mighty Big 12, yada yada yada.

It's comical.

CU left because they assumed everyone was coming with them. Someone told them the ship was sinking, they said 'screw the women and kids', jumped in a lifeboat and took off.

Right now the ship is sinking; but A&M has their hand over the patch in the hull. When we move, its doubtful the patch will hold.
Cotton79
How long do you want to ignore this user?
CU leaving the Big 12 is completely different than A&M. Why?... it's simple. A&M, because of its firm connection with tu, is-was-and-always-will-be more important to the overall financial well being than CU ever was. It's size and girth demand that, not to mention a fanatical and increasingly growing fan base of former student alumni. CU is comprised of an awful lot of 2%-er types who only care to glance at their sports teams when they are doing well. Many a rich people from the east and west coasts send their kids to CU, ostensibly so as to have a fun vacation place while "jr" is in school. After graduation?... meh.

So, the Big 12 didn't lose much when CU high-tailed it. It was like tossing a BB at battleship. Conversely, A&M's departure is a megaton torpedo into the belly of the beast, and the Big 12 will be mortally wounded when we finally say "Adios!"

THAT's the difference. Plain and simple.

Cotton nailed it. A&M has an above .500 winning percentage this decade and has won a bowl game this millenium. That's not exactly easy to replace. Not to mention, who will pick up the slack in women's basketball and track once A&M leaves? I'd like to see the big 12 replace that.

Why does everyone always compare us to arkansas like its a bad thing. It seems to me that playing in a bcs game and being one interception away from winning it would be a good thing. I would love for us to have seasons like that regularly

Being 4th in your division (as Arky is considered) isn't really the promised land, but I largely agree w/ you. I think we go in at the level of Arkansas, and move up from there.

There are a ton of Aggies who are probably keeping food on your dumb arse table. Probably not a good idea to run your mouth like this in your line of business.

Competing at the top level in the SEC will depend entirely on coaching. We have the talent base to compete...and we have first-hand knowledge what a difference the right coach can make. Fran and staff could not recruit near as well as Sherman. Sherman has updated the talent on this team and we are competing at a high level again albeit in the B12.

Arkansas did poorly because of bad coaching and it lost its recruiting base when it stopped playing the texas schools. I also think they were either coming off of probation or were on probation (correct me if im wrong, seems like all the swc was on or just coming of probation in the early 90s). Factor in the inherent toughness of the sec and thats why they didnt do well out of the gate.

None of those factors are in play with a&m in this case save for the sec's toughness
AgCatch22
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The reason Arky Porky is mediocre in the SEC is because they lost their recruiting base in Texas.

Our recruiting should improve by joining the SEC. Hopefully not the entire SEC also.

BTW, saw Mark D Patrick buying an orange t-shirt at academy the other day.
McInnis80
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think Arkansas and Rice were only SWC Schools not to go on probation in the 1980's. The Hogs had a series of bad hires after Ken Hatfield. Current Arkansas students have no memory of the bitter games (mostly losses) to Texas.
