Well, I'm not used to cheering for members of conferences, and I don't think I will. Why would you cheer for LSU or Arkansas?

No but if this is our last season here and our last Big12 game is against the longhorns at home, a slow S-E-C after a win would definitely ruffle some feathers, be a lasting memory for the fans, and a way of saying we're done with this abortion of a conference and look forward to our new affiliation.

I could see it against t.u. for obvious reasons....but I don't think it's A&M's style otherwise.

I can't stand that stupid chant so count me out. Almost everybody is in a conference. Doesn't mean you should care about the other schools in your conference necessarily. #1 priority is your school and whatever is #2 is a distant #2.

Idaho at Kyle Field? Meh, no one cares.
Okie State at Kyle? Yes. Yes we should.
against Arkansas? Would be awesome for the whole stadium to chant regardless of the winner.
at Tech? If you've got the balls. And yes.
against Baylor at Kyle? Hell yes.
at Iowa St? Again with the meh.
Mizzou at Kyle? Some more meh, unless it's just a beatdown.
at OU? Again with the hell yes.
at K State? More meh.
Kansas at Kyle? Meh, but probably just for good measure.
Tearing apart tu as we ride off into the East? Hell to the mother frakking yes.
Bowl game? Absolutely. It's just poetic like that.

The irony of the S-E-C chant is that it was the old SWC schools that started it all when Arkansas declared for the SEC in 1990.

The Hog fans gave it back with interest to Horn fans at the 2000 Cotton Bowl.

Other SEC fanbases gradually picked it up and now most of them do it at any major non-conference win.

"Hell yes" at OU? Not to say this is going to happen...let me take you back to 77-0, would you still chant S-E-C?

Knightlight, please note my disclaimer. The one that says iff we win these games. And if it's our last game against them in a long, long time, then why the hell not? Screw the past. The SEC is about what A&M can do, not what it's done.

It will happen and the yell leaders will lead it. The yell boys will use the same "finger pointing at the crowd" motion they use during saw varsity's horns off. Bookmark it.

Yes. We want to join the SEC for all the right reasons, so we embrace it. SEC chant at certain big non conference wins and if this is our last season in the B12, then every time we beat a B12 opponent.

With every chant of "SEC", the opposing fans and team will be forced to confront the fact that they are still part of the Sinking Ship Conference.

just b/c we chant SEC doesnt automatically mean we all get *****y haircuts and wear crocs everywhere. we can do certain SEC things w/out going overboard. we're going to the SEC b/c we want a STRONG conference. We should be proud and support that conference.

Y'all are looking at this all wrong. The SEC chant is the absolute antithesis of everything our current abortion of a conference stands for.

I look forward to the SEC chant as a resounding affirmation that we belong to a league that actually works together to promote the advancement and well being of ALL of its members.

And as for cheering for other conference members.... Would you really beat your chest if you ended up winning a conference made up of the Aggies and 11 crappy teams? If that's what you want then maybe you do not belong in the SEC after all...

Make no mistake,, there is no love lost when our teams meet on the field.. But when an SEC team plays a game OOC, you can bet the vast majority of fans of the other SEC teams are, at least silently, hoping they beat the snot out of whoever it is they are playing.

Why? You ask... because we understand the big picture of how to get SEC teams into the National championship game.. Do you think a 2-loss team from the ACC, BIG 10, or BIG 12 would have jumped from number seven after the final regular season game all the way to number two to play for and WIN, the BCS title game?? I'll help you out.. The answer is no... LSU made that jump because the tigers had to beat Alabama, Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee, Not OK and TX...

I would much rather Arkansas take it's lumps against tough competition in order to raise our level of performance as opposed to being a default champion of a conference full of losers..

That's why I pull for all SEC teams (even Ole Miss) to win their OOC games..

Locutus is again correct. S-E-C was chanted at Arkansas by SWC team fans during Arkansas' farewell, tour. And the Hogs had a bad team, too. The Hog fans picked it up and chanted it when the Arkansas won the NC in basketball. The rest of the SEC picked it up from there. It's really a all-for-one and one-for-all kind of thing.

I get this feeling it is going to be tossed back in our face. First game we lose (IF we lose), be prepared for it to come flying back at ya especially if Heaven forbid it is against Tech, Baylor, or Texas.

I made a thread earlier asking if we were going to after the tu game. It apparently wasn't a big deal.

We've never been in a kick-ass and take-names conference.

We'll chant it proudly someday, it'll just take a little getting used to ...
