I think the pride that most SEC team's fan hae in the conference is part of what makes it so strong. Last year is a great example of what I mean - the Bama fan in me hated to see AU win the NC because it's our biggest rival, but the SEC fan in me really wanted to see the SEC win 5 straight. In discussions about whether AU or Oregon would win, I found myself taking up for my biggest rival when PAC 10 people were saying how Oregon was beat them. Imagine that!
With that said, I hope we have a chance to win the NC again this year, but if not, I hope its another SEC team.

It's not cheering for the conference. It's cheering for the next step in our school's history.

I think a more appropriate way to celebrate the SEC move will be after the Aggies BTHO t.u. a fan hands a player a giant SEC logo flag that is a maroon background - then said player runs it down the field.

The SEC is badass b/c once they get past internal rivalries its all about the conference beating everyone else down.

The Gator's got this one right - it's usually only seen at the end of BCS bowl wins or really really BIG OOC rivalry games, but we are the BEST of the BEST and we make sure everyone knows it. The only reason you hear about the SEC chants is the fact the SEC wins a lot of those games. So, y'know, we end up chanting S-E-C a lot. Which, damn right we do- it's the SEC.

The only time I would crack a smile if it was chanted would be if we rout tu right before we exit the Big 12-2beebedoddsespn Conference. Wouldn't chant. But would secretly approve. Once.

Refusal to do this by some Ags is what angers me about about many Ags. This is both our fault and attribute - doggish loyalty to ancient traditions, some that draw national criticism and laughter. You'll find me screaming SEC! when we beat a out of conference rival!!! This is different stuff Ags!! Special times calls for many to conform.

SEC Chant. Having a lack of conference solidarity is exactly what killed the SWC and what will kill the Big 12.

It's kinda like patriotism. We as Americans squabble amongst each other, but if it's America against anyone else in the world, we'll root for the Americans no matter how much we may dislike them the next day.

Big Fat No. Why chant for 12 other teams. Do A&M players get rings when an SEC member wins a title? I have to explain this to Pig fans daily. To hell with riding coat-tails. The name of the game is winning, not putting on skirts and picking up pompoms and cheering for teams that want to kick your teeth in. It's garbage.

As for our FINAL t.u. game, I say do it...one time and one time only.

It goes back to what I have said. We are proud of our conference and want it to do well. If we miss out on some top recruits then our desire is for them to sign with another SEC school....to make the conference stronger. It would be good if they went with a member school in the West Division but the important thing is for them to stay here.

I would rather the conference stay strong than for UT to dominate a weakened down version. Pulling together as one is vital to making your conference the best in the land.

I sure hope y'all pick up this SEC tradition. It's mainly just for big non-conference games. And where the heck do y'all get that it has anything to do with frats or crocs??? As a Gamecock fan, I'll tell you it gets under the skin of Clempson fans who would LOVE to be out of the blue-blood basketball-first ACC. So the past two years, they've not enjoyed hearing the chant after the Carolina/Clempson games.

That's what it's about...showing pride that you're in the best conference in the country. And rubbing it in the noses of other schools that aren't. I remember hearing an Ohio State fan who was all confused that Gamecock fans were chanting "SEC SEC SEC" after Carolina beat them in the Outback Bowl. They just could not understand being proud of your conference. I may not like Georgia, but when they beat a non conference opponent, that raises the whole conference up a bit.

Can't wait to see A&M visit Columbia for the first time. I think you'll find that the SEC may be even more fun than you imagine now. Even when you lose, the road trips are a blast.

The SEC chant is more a slap in the opponents face then anything. You will learn what it means when you get here and start feeling the seething despises most of the country has for the SEC. When you are on top of the world most of the world hates you. Guess what for most of College sports SEC is the top of the food chain.

Baseball the last 3 championships
Basketball not as good 2 out of the last 5 isn't bad thou
Track with aTm joining Ark, Fla and LSU we will have 3 out of the top 5 schools in the nation
Gymnastics besides the Arizona school SEC rules
Volleyball UF is usually in the Tourny as a top seed
Swimming and Diving
UF ones the Womans Soccer

O and the SEC chant has been going on on and off since the 80's long before Arky joined. It got bigger when they joined and thru it in the SWC face.

It is not like we do it for every game or something. Florida doesn't do it after beating FSU. We do after bowl games so it gets media attention.

Well anyways welcome (hopefully) to the SEC looking forward to aTm helping strengthen our national dominance. But yes above all else go Gators.
