Heard that TH might not play tonight against Midland High. Anyone heard anything similar or different?

Assuming he is becoming a disciplinary issue, I'm starting to wonder if our coaches would even consider bringing him on board at all at this point. If schollies start to get tight, and we pick up another back like Goodson, and Hines continues to display off field issues, I wonder if his ship offer would be in jeopardy.

I know this might sound ridiculous but if Hines ends up at A&M, he will be fine. Jamie McCoy would make sure of that. All of the Lee guys that we have gotten/will get, look up to him and he definitely has a good head on his shoulders.

I think he is now second team due to lack of work ethic and poor attitude. Great.

Trent Hines has been replaced as the starter for now by sophmore Jasper McKee.
That's all we know so quit makings assumptions and stating them as if they are fact.

Don't forget, Hines has put up some very good numbers this year against some of the best teams in the state. Not to mention one of the best teams from California.

Hes got a ton of yards and all the sudeen no PT. The rumors in Midland (from MHS students) are that he has had issues in the classroom and with the coach (missing some practices). Whether those are true or not, I do not know, but they seem likely at this point. I had heard he was not going to play a few weekends ago for those reasons and sure enough a soph was playing over him. The fact of the matter is, even if the sophmore were better, he would still get quite a few snaps since he is a senior. Thats the way things work in high school. Baron Batch didnt get many carries last year because of a senior in front of him and he was obviously the better back.

It wasn't a great game, but it does qualify as memorable. If nothing else it was surprising that the Rebels won so easily against a Bulldogs team that was 7-1 entering the contest and eventually advanced to the regional semifinals.


Lee was unstoppable, using just 13 offensive plays to score seven touchdowns and built a 49-0 lead by halftime. Quarterback Jamie McCoy found the end zone six times to tie a district record, which he had before the first half was over.

Baron has a fumble on his first touch and Hines is not even playing.

SO...how did it end up?

MHS won 28-20

Batch scored 3 TD's, Hines scored 1 TD

Funny though. The Lee sophmore had more yards than both Hines and Batch.

MHS won? The score I saw was 28-20 Lee. I guess that was wrong. How about Permian/OHS?

OHS beat Permian 14-12

Damn, that's 10 straight district losses for Permian.

Batch split carries with another RB, Riggans and the QB, Roseberry who gained a pretty good amount of yardage on a simple roll-out play.

Hines got to play sparingly and even made a short TD run, but it was the soph. for Lee that carried the load.

Batch's speed was quite evident tonight.....when he got around the end and squared his shoulders he is one tough dude to catch. He had 2 or 3 TD's even though Lee's defense was keying on him and Roseberry. Neither team could really throw the ball due to the wind, so it shortened the field considerably.

Good overall game....just wish I could have seen what Hines could have done. Tall kid with long legs and seems to have a big stride so he definitely looks the part. I'm just glad to see a young kid step up like that, though. Lee has a lot to look forward to for the next couple of years with him in the backfield.

I don't think he's saying Batch will be an Aggie. I think he's saying he will be a Hurricane or a Volunteer.

We'll just have to wait till Feb.
If he goes on visits any where else, start worrying.

This has been hashed on for weeks on here. If Batch goes elsewhere, he does elsewhere. It happens all the time with early commits. We aren't hurting at RB as far as depth goes. Though it would be nice to hold onto a West Texas kid. It just annoys me that people with "inside sources" claim things every year and hope they come to fruition. If not, no harm done. If so, he is an recruiting genius. If Baron is offered by Tennessee or Miami, no one will blame him for checking that out. I'm close enough to the situation to know what's going on as well. But until he actually goes on a visit, this constant speculation/gotcha talk is pointless.

Enjoy Hines, I seriously doubt he's in danger of going anywhere else considering that nobody else would want a kid with an attitude problem that is currently getting beat out by a soph. You should at least feel secure about that.

Funny how worried the Ags are about where Batch is going. I personally couldn't care less about where Hines goes. What does that tell you. Envy is a mother to deal with, huh?

That tells you that I see Batch as the better back now. Before the season I though Hines would turn out better, but after watching Baron, it is very clear to me that he is the better back and will be a very dangerous back in college (IMO). That is why I am worried about him ending up with Tech. If Mike Leach lands weapons like Batch... Tech might actually have a legitimate shot at a MNC (something that we are not even close to at this point in time). I would like to land Batch, but really I would rather have Goodson or Williams. What I dont want to see is Batch go to Tech for the reasons I mentioned above. Ill quit talking trash on this subject and I am not trying to be a recruiting genius. I only know first hand information about kids in Midland because I know half of Midland and my brother is a senior at Midland High School.

I just don't like the mentality of not wanting a talented kid to go to Tech even though he isn't even being courted by A&M. I couldn't tell you the name of any Aggie recruits outside of Midland (with the exception of Cody Beyer and I think he's a good catch). I simply subscribe to the idea that you need to address your own needs, etc. before worrying about what everyone else is doing. The only reason I'm on here is because I initially wanted to check out what was being said about Batch. Other than that, I wish y'all the best of luck with your recruits, and I want Hines to work out. There has been a long history of RB's from Lee that could have been great if they had only kept their head on straight and taken care of their business off of the field. (Ced being an obvious exception, along with Josh Norman). I can think of Farris Strambler (I actually think he was a better RB than Benson at that level), Waymon Goodley, Dennis Sterling, Walter Jones, etc., etc., etc., Let's hope the trend has stopped and somebody that cares will pull Hines aside and try to get him back on track.
