There is no way Consol is even on the same level as Bryan in basketball. In the early 90s and now Consol is better in football, but things change. The only sport that you can say you kill Bryan at is Baseball (Bryan sucks at baseball). So I wouldn't say that consol "owns" bryan like TAMU owns Baylor. Oh and don't forget about Bryan's mighty softball team!

at the end of the Ross Rogers' era at consol, late 90's the football team was horrible, bunch of politics prevented best players from getting on the field at the most important positions (qb, wr, k) - needless to say we lost a bunch of games to everyone including Bryan and produced only a couple of decent college players...most of consol players usually end up walking on at A&M...i think there's a player right now who figures to be a very good d1 prospect in 2007

Regarding a few more additions / corrections:

Tyndall Yaap never played college
Eric Walley played a year at Blinn as a kicker
Ray Kavanaugh played at McNeese

These guys were all Class of '90 but played on the 89 state title game team.

Also, Hans Booth played baseball at Sam

the guy thats a good d1 prospect in 07 is a running back named daniel palmer. last year he had a leg injury so he didnt really play that much. I heard from some friends that he is gonna be recruited by A&M next year when he is a junior. There is also a punter who is graduating this year (05) who is supposed to walk on at A&M. He was an on the all state team as a punter on www.5atexasfootball.com his name is eric george. I heard that he was in a competition with either young or another A&M punter and beat them........yeah.......

even so..we still have brantly who will more than likely start at punter next year..he is an ALL-AMERICAN, not all state..george may walk-on but he has no chance of passing brantly in the rotation

Being a Consol grad that played on the State Championship team. I must say that your perspective on the rivalry between Bryan and Consol is based on your age. When I was in school, Bryan couldn't hold our jock in football. The two schools have only been playing each other for about 16 years in football. The years that Bernstein, Flowers, etc. played for Bryan were great. But since I was in Elementary school then I can't remember. I follow the local high schools very closely. I am friends with a large number of the Consol guys listed above. I will say that the list is somewhat inaccurate. When I speak of d1 talent, I usually am talking about people with scholarships.

Finally, Ross Rogers is one hell of a nice guy. And to say that politics kept the "best" kids from playing is wrong. That man wants to win. If he thought a kid could help him win they would be playing.

I didn't say that Rogers wasn't a nice guy, but by the end of 90's there were two main positions qb and k that had better players lower on the depth chart...i remember at one exibition 3/4 year starter at kicker got beat by 5'2 soccer chick in kicking field goals that should tell you how good the team was...

Bryan is historically better than Consolidated in sports, but Consol had an upswing in the 90s. They just flat sucked for a LONG time before that.

It is also true that Bryan underachieves and will be far better if they ever learn to keep all their athletes properly motivated and working.

That being said, I would send my kid to a culturally mixed school like Bryan any day rather than an elitest school like Consol.

LAR,

That is the stupidest statement I have heard in a while. It shows that you have no idea what CSISD is all about. They fail in the areas of vocational education, but they are much better at preparing a kid for college. The social aspects are very similair. Both have good and bad points. To call Consol eliteist is not accurate. There is a segment of the kids whose families may fall into that category, but that is true in Bryan as well. (see people with the last name Bryan)

I think CSAg96 has it right. People don't realize the extent to which most coaches make decisions based on who--in their judgment--will give them the best chance to win. You may fault their judgment, but its hard to read motives which come from the heart.

I would NEVER send my kid to Bryan/ghetto High over Consol. (and no I'm not from Consol)

where your wrong 10aggie007, is that Eric George actually beat Brantly at an ATM kicking camp this summer in all categories. Including punting, kicking, and field goals. To make matters worse for your boy Brantly, he was actually beaten in the competition by not only George but two other kickers from Consolidated as well. ONe being Consol's kicker this past year Gibby Sawtelle and the other being a Sophmore named Symanzski. George beat Brantly by roughly a 5 yard or better average. Brantly may have been an All American, but that doesn't mean he is the best punter/kicker around. He just committed very early to ATM, even before the kick camp this summer, and the coaches obviously decided they could work with him. Now whether George beats out Brantly for the job this fall is yet to be seen, but that has to do with actual fall kicking and who has the scholarship and who doesn't. And don't kid yourself, the person with the scholarship does have an early advantage because of it.

thank you modelo06

and yeah szymanski is really good i think he made like a 45-50 yarder as a freshman so he could probably be a good d1 kicker

i too, think george will be the aggies best punter next year even if he doesnt start every game

said those were football seasons, not class years. Eastman did suit up his Freshman Spring, Williams left Kansas to come back to Blinn, not a JUCO in Kansas.

You're right, I should have paid more attention to your entire post about the years.

If I remember correctly, Eastman ended up going to Alvin JC, played a year, and then had his scholarship reduced or revoked here at A&M. Gave it up after that. If we're talking about the same Jason Williams (WR/Outfielder), he actually enrolled at a JUCO (Coffeyville or Colleyville) in KS before bailing and heading home before the semester began. Could be different guys I guess.

As a '94 grad at Consol, I drove an '81 Toyota Corolla throughout HS. Someone forgot to tell me I was a member of the elite.

Maybe you're not from Consol, but you would have fit right in.

Oh, and Tonka, I also had a car in HS, BTW, an old Chrysler. I just happen to know that that makes me lucky, because many of my friends didn't have that opportunity. You think that makes you unlucky, because you didn't get to drive the new Mustang that was parked next to you.

Last time I checked, the BHS parking lot wasn't empty. Your exageration of sterotypes from both schools is comical.

Its Consol..not Beverly Hills High
Its Bryan..not inner city Detroit

give it a rest

LAR, you're off your rocker playa, Consol is what every school in US should try to be - an extremely safe school with very strong academics, by the end of 90's we were graduating 10-15 national merit FINALISTS, not even counting the other ones...if you want your kid to go somewhere other than JUCO - you move to CS and go to Consol...

Elitism, elitism, elitism.

I won't get into academic bragging with you, but I would win if I did.
