And you can't stop that!!!
2021 North Shore WR Shadrach Banks gives verbal pledge to Texas A&M
When North Shore and Duncanville squared off in JerryWorld last December for 6A Division I state crown, there were big-time college prospects littered across the playing field. On that night, the one that stole the show for the champion Mustangs was 2021 WR Shadrach Banks. Today, he committed to Texas A&M, ending a long drought for the Aggies at the east Houston powerhouse and maybe even turning on the faucet for A&M’s chances there in the future.
“I feel at home,” Banks told media following his announcement. “I feel welcomed by all the players and coaches. They have a great facility. It’s only an hour away plus they have a great engineering program and I’m majoring in engineering. It’s all about the fit and I feel like it’s the best fit for me.”
Shadrach joins Denton Guyer QB Eli Stowers as the first two Maroon & White pledges in the class of 2021. He chose A&M over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Michigan, Tennessee and many, many more. Aggie wide receiver coach Dameyune Craig did a phenomenal job in landing a talent like Banks this early. It will likely be a small class for A&M in 2021 at wideout, but Shadrach was a kid the coaching staff identified very early as a must-get for that cycle.
“They’re really cool,” Banks said of the Texas A&M coaching staff. “When I go up there we don’t just talk about football. We talk about everything, whatever is on my mind. It’s just real great to be up there with coach Fisher and coach Craig. And, coach P (Peveto) that’s my man.”
Banks isn’t built like your typical junior pass catcher. He’s sturdy, powerful, and packs a punch at contact. He’s at the top of his class in terms of playmaking ability as well. While not necessarily an outright burner, he flashes plenty of speed to outrun angles and has a knack for finding extra yards after the catch. He was insanely productive for North Shore in 2018, hauling in 60 receptions for 1,300 yards and 17 scores. You can view his junior tape below.
