The UT coaching staff has decided what their priorities are. They decided Jenkins was deserving of an offer, but were honest with him about where he ranked relative to Turner. Furthermore, they were honest with Jenkins about the scholarship numbers situation so that he knew from the outset what his window of opportunity looked like. And that approach, according to your reasoning, constitutes chicken-****.

Wow, you're right. The Texas coaches should immediately tender an unconditional offer and tell him he's their number one priority("Turner? Never heard of him", then either "trap-door" the kid after he signs or "encourage" him to take a gray shirt until a scholarship opens up.

And yes, I actually do feel Miles is on par with Mack. Their records are comparable, and Brown has had the benefit of playing in a far less competitive conference.

Les took over for Saban who left him a recent history of winning records and great talent on the squad. Look what he's doing at Alabama now.

Actually, I'm saying that Saban is in the same league as Mack, but Miles is not.

As an overall head coach, I think Mack is the best there is right now. I comfortably concede that a case could be made for Urban Meyer and Nick Saban as well. Tressel could also be in the conversation. Stoops too - but that would be a stretch for me (there's more to being a head coach than coaching football and recruiting - college football is also about many other things like athletes and their families, academics, PR, and making money).

I can't imagine any but the most biased fan including Miles on that list.

Miles' team that won the title in 2007 lost to two teams that finished the season unranked -- in other words that team was not one of the best 30 teams the last decade and would have been skull ****** by Mack's 2005 team.

Miles will be fired soon enough.

Now Les Miles on the other hand is developing a reputation as a coach who makes bonehead decisions and has clock management issues. I think he's a good coach still, but you're biased if you think Mack Brown wouldn't be ahead of him in any unbiased ranking list.
