Ogbogu and Mortensen starting for team USA's U17 team! Ogbogu looking like the best player out there!

I watched the USA U17 team vs Egypt & Turkey games and Maya is the best player on a stacked U17 team. She is just so explosive. She led the team in kills and blocks in the Turkey game. Maya was second in kills in the Egypt game. I am pretty sure that Maya is the only player that has not be substituted for......she plays the full rotation and every minute of both games.

Maija Mortensen looks really good too, she is the starting MB. I knew very little about this young lady before the games but I am very impressed.

The future of Aggie volleyball is bright with Sophee & Isabella in 2027 and Maya, Maija & Amari Fraizer in 2028

The games can be found (Live & delayed) on Youtube by searching for FIVB U17 World Championships. Happy watching!

They play Chile next tomorrow night at 7pmCT.

USA U17 girls won again tonight against Chile 3-0. Maya and Kari Knotts (the two best players outside of the setter Easton) sat the bench the entire game to rest up. It was a depth building game without much risk. In the 3 games they have not dropped a set. Way to go ladies.

Maya is a stud but i would say Knotts is the best player and only 15

I respect you opinion about Knotts and she is awesome. But Maya has outplayed her in head to head contests throughout the summer and most recently in the USAV National Championships in July. Maya was MVP. I watched all the games and they are close in ability but Maya is better right now. Knotts being a year younger may catch up and possibly pass Maya. The only advantage Knotts has - right now - is being 3" taller.

They also play OH but the USAV coach moved Knotts to OPP for the USAV U17 Team. Maya is the alpha of the U17 team and its clear.

Both young ladies are awesome.

13 kills, no errors, .765 hitting for Maya in the quarterfinals

I was worried in that second set.

Maya, Kari & Enger (Setter) are carrying this team. There are other good players (Middleton, Maija, Masserlink, the Libero, etc.) but anytime one of those three go out of the match the efficiency and success of the team drops off.

That setter is crazy good!!! She's going to be a huge recruit in the 2029 class!! Wonder if we go after her

Texas, Nebraska, Louisville & Pitt took setters in '28. That has to help! And with Maya being a human volleyball highlight has to be attractive to any setter. Just get Maya the ball and let her swing. Maya had two back row attacks tonight - wow. No attacking errors all night.

If I counted correctly 5 of the 14 girls on the USA U17 roster are from North Texas area, including our two future Aggies.

2028s... I have seen some of Maya's footage before (amazing!) and am also really enjoying watching MB Mortensen in these matches. She is now listed as 6'4" in some places and has been pretty dominant so far this week.

My daughter is a year older than Maya and plays for TAV (same club). So we've seen a lot of good players over the years. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've never seen a player hit the ball as hard as Maya. She looks like a pretty normal girl in person (although definitely Open level athleticism) but she has a cannon for an arm. I don't know how she generates that much power but I'm excited to see her play in the maroon and white!

Ogbogu is amazing. She got blocked but then comes back with a nice out of system kill and then a kill on the right side.

Thanks for the info! got something to watch for a bit.

Next game is tomorrow semi-final USA vs China. I'm not sure on the time yet (too tired right now to convert different time zones) but I think later than today's.

Another USA sweep
Bowhunter08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, it was a dominating performance. Enger setting Knotts and Maya is lethal. Wish Enger would balance out the sets. Knotts gets by far more sets even though Maya's hitting % is better. I'm not complaining....a win is a win.

As the USA win the entire tournament with all sweeps, Maya Ogbogu is named the tournament's best outside hitter and Maija Mortensen the tournament's best middle blocker
Bowhunter08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The USA U17 team was dominating. They played 9 matches and never lost a set. 27-0.

The Aggies have a lot to look forward to with Maya Ogbogu, Maija Mortensen and let's not forget Amari Fraizer who was also on the team but was injured. Amari is GOOD!!!

I am happy for Maya and Maija winning best OH and MB in the Tournament. I am also happy for Kari Knotts taking the MVP. Jaime is building a powerhouse.

I personally believe Maya O was deserving of the MVP award because she is a better all around player (a true 6 rotation player) maya was all over the court chasing balls, digs, etc. The coach, as she should, hides Kari from receive and is no where to be found in the passing offense. Kari is the beneficiary and gets most of the sets.

I would take Maya O over Kari right now BUT Kari is 8 months younger. Both are awesome.

So happy for all the young ladies on the Team!!!
