Didn't know this was still a potential problem with the newer variants . I had a very mild case. Started realizing yesterday that flavors were very muted. I can still smell certain things. But a lot of flavor is gone.

Latest version of Covid. Loss of taste and smell.

Umm been a covid symptom from the start. A very obvious one too because there's not much else that kills taste and smell

Yes. I'm well aware it is an obvious symptom. But i had heard it wasn't really happening with omicron. I know a bunch of folks that have gotten covid in the last couple of weeks and no one has reported a loss of taste/smell.
Just got over Covid. No loss of smell or taste. Lucky I guess.
Friend of mine got it at a conference in Chicago several weeks ago. She's on week two of loss of taste and smell.
My taste was muted for sweet things. Biggest thing i noticed was that Diet Dr Pepper tasted like cough medicine. That lasted a week.

I'm hoping it's quick. Have a family vacation in 2 weeks. My wife and I are having dinner at a place that I had to book 60 days in advance when the reservations opened at midnight. I'm going to be royally pissed if this is still a problem.
I never lost taste or smell. Literally the only thing that now tastes weird is Diet Coke. So strange.

Wife just came down with covid for the second time in a year. This time she also lost her taste and smell for a bit. Apparently there is a Omicron variant that has Delta mutations that has been driving up some cases. Could be that.

I know a ton of people that have COVID since Xmas and almost none had those issues. That seemed to be much more of the alpha and earlier strands. OP not wrong in being a little surprised.
Couple weeks ago wife and I had what felt like minor head colds. Then she all of a sudden couldn't taste anything so we both tested and positive. Two days later I lost all taste and smell for a couple days. Slowly came back, muted taste for about a week.
well, I am back to about 75% taste and smell. man, i truly didn't understand how big of deal the loss of taste and smell was to people. so glad i got over it quickly. some things had no taste. other things had a taste so bad that i nearly puked. i can't even describe what it was like. but, i was eating a strawberry that i could really only taste sweet but nothing else. then i bit into a blackberry and i had to run to the trash.
I never really felt like I lost taste or smell, but as others have mentioned, some things tasted different. My minty toothpaste was so awful tasting. Very odd.

My wife and I got Covid in January and we lost much of our senses of smell, while taste was altered. We both had low-grade fevers and felt poorly, though not "flu bad". However, while my wife fully recovered within a week or so, I started developing some strange symptoms. I started having burning sensations in my face and my nose and sinuses became extremely dry. When I breathed, it felt like someone had taken a roto-rooter and cleaned out the interior of my face and head. I also lost my appetite.
After about 6 weeks, my appetite returned and my sense of taste slowly became more normal. However, I have experienced a very long journey of slow recovery of my smell and restoration of normal moisture in my nose. Six months later, I still have a diminished sense of smell and still go through periods when my nose feels uncomfortably dry. However, I am very thankful to God that I am recovering and never did experience severe respiratory symptoms.
I have yet to have heard of anyone else who has experienced this with Covid, and the doctors I have visited, including an ENT specialist, act very puzzled when I describe the experience. The only thing I can attribute it all to is some type of autoimmune response that literally fried the interior of my nose.
