I did a quick search and didn't find what I was looking for.

If someone at high risk tests positive for Covid, likely Delta, not Omicron, based on severity of symptoms, should this person receive both the newly approved antiviral and monoclonal antibodies or just one of the two? If just one, which should be recommended?

Her doctor basically told her to tell him what she wants. I've said to ask for prescriptions for both since both seem to be in short supply, but am not really sure which is best. She's in Fort Worth, so if anyone has advice on finding either in that area, that would also be appreciated.

I would try for both as well, especially if they think it is Delta.

I was thinking both, too, just not sure if there is a reason that is wrong. I want them to throw the kitchen sink at this for her.

The newest NIH treatment guidelines based on Omicron taking over:

The Panel's current outpatient treatment recommendations are as follows (in order of preference):
  • Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir 300 mg plus ritonavir 100 mg) orally twice daily for 5 days
  • Sotrovimab 500 mg administered as a single intravenous (IV) infusion
  • Remdesivir 200 mg IV on Day 1 followed by remdesivir 100 mg IV on Days 2 and 3
  • Molnupiravir 800 mg orally twice daily for 5 days

For what it's worth, I practice reasonably close to Ft Worth. I'd assume anyone in the area had Omicron unless they've travelled recently to an area with a lot of delta. Our Delta wave was late summer/early autumn and we've been mostly over it for months.

Thanks! Are you having any luck finding Sotrovimab?
I appreciate your insight.

It's hit or miss. The state started centrally coordinating this, and this is the website

The doc would have to go online and put in the order, and it would try to find a dose for the patient somewhere close
