Why is there not a traditional vaccine that contains particles of the actual virus as the Chinese Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines do? Apparently, many people are reluctant to receive the authorized vaccines because they are novel or they were developed with cells from aborted fetuses. It would seem that a traditional vaccine would alleviate these concerns for these people. We are nearly two years in and one would think that the U.S. would have a vaccine similar to the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines by now. I have read about the differences in the mRNA, vector, and protein sub-unit COVID vaccines and how they work, but nowhere have I read or heard why we do not have a traditional vaccine for this virus in this country.
