So is the vax to credit for the lack of severe cases or is it just a characteristic of the omicron strain?

Is there any correlation or data or study that points to the driver for less severe cases?

From what I have read most experts don't know for sure but speculate that it is both factors at play.

There is no spike in deaths amongst unvaxxed. So it is Omicron more than the vax.

Official narrative will be that it's due to vaccines.

Reality will show that it's just a weak strain. If unvaccinated were dying in hospitals significantly more than vaxed you better believe it would be headline news for weeks.

Weak strain. I probably have it right now, and it's a nothing-burger. Not getting tested though.

Vaccinated 75-year-old relative just got Covid. Mild symptoms, but he took Ivermectin.

Wrong forum for this type of talk. Take your non hate or fear mongering post somewhere else.

I hope this comment is in jest. An actual COVID-19 variant that infects everyone but kills no one (I know that is not descriptive of the omicron variant...) could actually save the world from all the negative impacts of this virus, making it no more than endemic. i would call that somewhat of a Godsend.

His post was sarcasm but worded differently than he intended.

I do not think it is affecting the deep tissue of the lungs but more so the bronchial. If this proves to be true the death rate should be much lower.

Definitely in jest. Mostly because of how far off the deep end this forum has gone in the fear and pessimism scale. And pointing that out generally leads to censorship. Honestly, I expect to have anything pointing out how fear-focused (while ignoring or shouting down positives like your post) this forum is leading to posts being deleted or being banned again. Sorry, I didn't expect my post to still be up…

That aside, I 100% agree with your post. It's a time for optimism, not for fear. I can't wait until this forum can be shut down for good.

You know that colds and the flu are still around, though, right? No way of knowing what you have without a test. Just speculation.

No. None of my family is vaxxed, oldest son tested positive a week ago (aches, chills, slight fever), was 100% 2 days later and nobody else got sick. All of us have already had Covid.

I am really good at detecting sarcasm when face to face. I truly appreciate good sarcasm. Now, with your guidance, I appreciate your sarcasm. I also agree entirely with your second post.

I have now seen two of the handful of experts that I have been following (pods, etc.) say, in different words, that Omicron should be viewed generally with optimism (the pain and death caused... always regrettable, but the progress back to normalcy should be acknowledged and applauded). Another acquaintance on the front lines believes that Omicron will be followed by one or more additional variants which will continue to be more infectious and less severe, until COVID-19 recedes into the background.

This. 20% of common colds are coronaviruses. Covid is normalizing like the rest of them in sustaining itself by becoming more contagious but less severe
