NP (with guidance from doc) prescribed:

Pretty much the same vitamins and OTC meds as recommended here:

Vitamin D
Vitamin C
Pepcid
Melatonin
Aspirin
Zinc

Also prescribed:

Ivermectin
Hydroxychloroquine

She didn't qualify for Monoclonal Antibodies (too healthy)

Thanks. She's had a slight fever since Friday. Mild cough.

Did she request the ivermectin, or was that just what the NP/MD prescribed? Honest question. I've seen more and more physicians prescribing it (or at least admitting that they do).

Did not request.

Also did not advise Quercetin either.

I have been giving her Quercetin with Zinc since Saturday. I've also given her CoQ10 and NAC daily.

I would also highly recommend walking. So many people who had previously had covid said the same thing. Prayers for your wife!

Good advice. Her taste and smell are completely gone.

If she has any struggle breathing whatsoever or lower blood oxygen levels (below 96), I'd ask your doc for a steroid such as Budesonide. Would also consider an aspirin daily. I second the notion of daily exercise with some deep breathing.

Thanks for the advice. She's been taking aspirin daily.

Have her lay on her stomach and do deep breathing for 5-7 minutes 3-4 times a day. Helped us tremendously. Also praying for good outcome.

This is NOT a good idea. My infectious disease doctor in the hospital (seen 4k+ COVID patients) told me under no circumstances to take a steroid with COVID unless you are on oxygen. I was on a steroid when I came into the hospital (was prescribed by urgent care doctor after positive test) and he said that could have been a reason why I developed complications that no one else in my family got.

I guess our Docs are in disagreement on this point. Are you talking about an oral such as Prednisone or one used in a nebulizer? I wouldn't have suggested it if my Doc had not prescribed it for me and was fairly adamant that I use it when I had Covid.

Not surprising I guess this hasn't been cleared up 18+ months into a pandemic....

Suppressing the immune system when your body is trying to fight off replicating virus in your body (usually first week post-exposure) - very bad idea and could lead to your body not being able to clear the virus.

Suppressing the immune system after the virus has been cleared but the immune system is still in overdrive and is causing systemic damage to organs such as the lungs - very good idea and why some patients have better mortality outcomes.

The use of steroids as treatments is all about the proper timing, and pinpointing the right time is usually very hard! That's why some studies have seen positive outcomes, and others no difference from placebo. It's all about study design and when the steroid is being given in relation to first patient exposure and viral clearance. It's pretty hard for all doctors to get right.

Any prescription of steroids in response to a potential SARS-COV-2 infection probably has helped one subset of the population, potentially harmed another subset, and then done completely nothing for everyone else. There is no right/wrong answer here.

In no way am I trying to argue with you. In fact, I don't have enough knowledge or understanding to even form an argument on my own regarding all of this. I am trying to learn and I don't want to give bad advice. With that said, I do have one question. I realize how an oral steroid such as prednisone can suppress your immune system and immune response. Will an aerosolized steroid such as Budesonide suppress your immune system as well? Seems like it is more targeted to your lungs.

Thank you. She is on day 7 and seems to be doing just fine. Daughter tested positive Wednesday as well. She has no symptoms. I'm the only one in the house still testing negative.

Thanks for all the well-wishes.

Update (one family's anecdotal evidence):

Wife is heading into day eight with Covid. Yesterday was her first day fever free. Her fever was never really high, but it was ongoing. Looks like she is on the road to recovery.

Daughter (11) tested positive Wednesday morning, and you wouldn't know it. She has zero symptoms and helped clean the house the entire day. Her and I just finished a movie.

I have yet to test positive even though I've been living under the same roof as the two of them the last week and have been my wife's maid for the last week. Lol.

I spent the day cleaning the garage, attic, and mowing the lawn.

None of us are vaccinated.

I'm excited for both my wife and daughter to have natural immunity. I'm a little envious at this point as well.

Great report! Thanks for sharing. I hope you don't ever end up getting it. I had a very similar situation where my wife and daughter both had it, but then I ended up getting it months later. None of us got very sick so that was a really good thing.

I tested positive yesterday morning. I started having symptoms Saturday morning (woke up with a headache).

I'm entering what I would consider day three. Symptoms are headache, chills, body aches, fever (101.4 is highest so far), and a mild cough. Definitely don't feel great. What's amazing is my daughter tested positive on Wednesday, and she is completely asymptomatic.

Same! Sorry didn't mean to sound argumentative, just trying to pass along what my doctor told me when I was in the ICU. I definitely got the impression from him that even though we are 18 months in they still really have no clue.

Definitely appreciate the detailed explanation though. The timing does seem touchy. He was angry that I was on an oral steroid and then I got put on an IV steiroid once I was on oxygen

Have already been prescribed Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine. I was also given instructions for Vitamin D, Vitamin C, zinc, pepcid, CoQ10, NAC, aspirin, and melatonin. She stated that the hydroxychloroquine is better than quercetin to help deliver the zinc into my system and that zinc is important to prevent cytokine storm.

But she also prescribed Budesonide with a nebulizer.

She stated I most likely wouldn't need it, but if my cough became worse to use it.

Now I'm wondering if I should use it if it weakens the immune system.

All in all, I'm on day four and feeling pretty good. Just have an itchy cough and body aches.

I would follow your doctor's recommendations if it's your PCP. Mine was an urgent care doctor that I hadn't seen before. Mine was also an oral steroid pill and no or a nebulizer. I didn't want to cause confusion or anything and the list up above mine does a good job of explaining why there is some mixed opinions there.
