What are the odds of a child meeting the CDC definition of an exposure while outdoors trick or treating? It's being recommended. This goes back to an absolutely horrible job of educating the general public when an exposure occurs. As a reminder, since the CDC and health care workers seemingly won't get the word out…..

Kids wearing masks to trick or treat outdoors or period is beyond ridiculous to me, at this point I just do not understand this maddening situation.

There is no reason to wear a mask outdoors

Kids mostly aren't wearing masks except when forced to in schools. I live in CA, which you'd think would be different than what you see in TX. I think children masking is ~5% outside. I feel for the kids forced to. I even see some masked kids with unmasked parents (assume they intend to mask the kids until vaccinated).

This doesn't extend to just the outdoors. This is the reality of kids gathering. It's a main reason why the school mask mandates are silly because even if they were effective (they aren't) the kids are all together elsewhere.

Why are you worried about a "covid exposure" and why are you still concerned about what the CDC states in that regard? Confused by the question. Are you concerned about covid and want to potentially protect your child by wearing a covid mask or are you looking for justification to not make a child wear a mask?

My opinion is stop masking your kid or yourself. If you are at a point where you think you NEED to mask your kid for Halloween, simply do not do Halloween. I haven't masked my kids unless where we go has mask nazis guarding the place (and now I just avoid those places). Kids simply do not need to mask unless they have serious health conditions to consider. At this point, neither do you....

You're head.

The concept that such an asinine recommendation would be made, and that many in the public will buy into it simply illustrates the point I was trying to make with the CDC definition of an exposure. Even the "experts" on this board have failed to drive home how/when/where an exposure occurs. Hint: It's not likely outdoors trick or treating, and it's not likely walking around in Home Depot shopping.

We did Halloween normally last year and will do the same this year. My children go to school all day without a mask. Around a month ago, a child in my daughter's class was at school all day and diagnosed worth covid that evening. Not one other kid in the class got sick. 5th grade.

They could all be asymptomatic. Did they test them!?

100% agree. I see where you're going with this now. But on this forum, you never know. It does appear there are still too many parents that think it's May 2020 still.

Ignore the CDC. It's a political body/agency, divorced from science. Nothing they put out can surprise me at this point.

This entire board seems to be dedicated to vaccinations, drugs for treatment/prevention, and recovery. Far too many people still don't understand how/when it is spread. For crying out loud, I saw 9 middle age to 70s people sitting shoulder to shoulder around a 3 foot wide table at a restaurant a couple of weeks ago. They were not wearing masks, but when they got up to leave, TO A PERSON, they put on their masks (some below their nose) and went out the door, never closer than 5 feet from ANYBODY.

This is our "educated" public after nearly 2 years of this crap. The medical community is as much to blame at this point as the media for keeping the fear alive.

I haven't watched any numbers other than San Antonio … but I feel like the 6 weeks of packed stadiums has to mean something with regard to outdoor transmission?

I saw over 106,000 people sitting next to each other almost touching each other this weekend... didnt see but a few mask.. If there was a real credible threat I dont think Kyle Field would have been packed like that.

also, not one coach on either side or player wearing a mask..

just some food for thought?

and yes, your point about this entire board is spot on.. getting old

Are you really asking this question or just trying to make a point? If the latter, just make your point. It will avoid all the responses where people think that you are taking this seriously.
