Wife developed what we thought was eczema, went to dermatologist who said it was psoriasis. She also said it was something she was seeing an increased amount of due to vaccinations.

Wife's timeline is COVID in December, vaccine in Feb, first appearance of symptoms May, 2nd COVID dx early August.

Any MD's thoughts? Seen the psoriasis thing in patients?

Does anyone else in her extended family have psoriasis? Usually runs in families and is often triggered after an illness. I have a friend who has several family members with psoriasis- Mom, sister, grandma, cousins. But, he never had it until his late 20s. It began after he was sick with strep throat.

No, not in my practice. I have seen a significant uptick in non-specific dermatitis after vaccination. Worse in administered arm, seems to resolve in most within 6-8 weeks. I do have 5 patients with new onset chronic idiopathic urticaria that all started 2-3 weeks after the second vaccine dose. Anecdotal but interesting. I've had a lot of patients with established ps flare after vaccination but many stopped their meds prior to vaccine to get the best response and immune stimulation can flare ps so not really surprising.

The post covid patients I see in clinic overwhelmingly have a chief complaint of hair loss. I've seen a few patients with small vessel vasculitis that eventually resolved during recovery. Few severe drug reactions (DRESS, AGEP)but not really attributable to covid.
