COVID-19 vaccine boosters unnecessary for most, say FDA advisers reportedly resigning over issue
FDA's Marion Gruber and Phil Krause argued current evidence doesn't indicate a need for booster shots among most Americans By Kayla Rivas | Fox News

Quote:

Available evidence doesn't yet indicate a need for COVID-19 vaccine booster shots among the general population, an international group of scientists said Monday, including two senior FDA officials reportedly stepping down from their posts over a disagreement with the White House on the administration of booster shots.

Marion Gruber, director of the FDA's Office of Vaccines Research and Review, and her deputy director, Phil Krause, set to leave in October and November, published a viewpoint in The Lancet on Monday along with other experts worldwide, arguing that the COVID-19 vaccines remain effective in preventing severe disease, including against the highly transmissible and dominant delta variant.

"Careful and public scrutiny of the evolving data will be needed to assure that decisions about boosting are informed by reliable science more than by politics," authors wrote, adding in part: "Widespread boosting should be undertaken only if there is clear evidence that it is appropriate."...

There's no question some folks will benefit from boosters, and I hope they get them.

But I can't help but wonder who, if anyone, makes some spare change off booster shots.

Does anyone profit off boosters being blanket recommended?

I love that you put the lancet part in bold but didn't actually post the conclusion of their paper

Quote:

The vaccines that are currently available are safe, effective, and save lives. The limited supply of these vaccines will save the most lives if made available to people who are at appreciable risk of serious disease and have not yet received any vaccine. Even if some gain can ultimately be obtained from boosting, it will not outweigh the benefits of providing initial protection to the unvaccinated. If vaccines are deployed where they would do the most good, they could hasten the end of the pandemic by inhibiting further evolution of variants. Indeed, WHO has called for a moratorium on boosting until the benefits of primary vaccination have been made available to more people around the world.18 This is a compelling issue, particularly as the currently available evidence does not show the need for widespread use of booster vaccination in populations that have received an effective primary vaccination regimen.

The conclusion here isn't that boosters aren't safe - it's that we should prioritize vaccinating the unvaccinated worldwide first because the unvaccinated are prolonging the issues.

Apologies. Let's call it thread carryover from the guy who is constantly trying to provide evidence of vaccine harm while lifting up that ivermectin may not actually destroy your sperm. You are correct

Is there strong evidence that ivermectin causes infertility? As in not from some popular press clickbait?

Not sure what any of that has to do with a rather important rebuke of politicized health policy. Seems you don't either. Maybe don't get so angry about a posting in other threads that you do the same kind of thing in this one.

There is no evidence that boosters are needed. I posted about it weeks ago when Biden first announced them. Elderly and immunosuppressed likely benefit but the vast majority of people can wait for time to pass and data on protection to build.

If its safe to get a booster I'm going to all the places offering a chance to win a cash prize for getting the shot.
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

Boosters will only benefit Big Pharma and those invested in Big Pharma.

This really isn't that hard to figure out.

So, if someone has autoimmune illnesses and also is on immunosuppressive medications, would you feel a booster is advised in this case?
