I specifically asked Rev about this and he said...too rare to worry about.

Hospitalized kids due to covid is really rare, so is 6 times that amount some crazy number we should sit in fear of also? It should be noted and studied but that's about it.

Are you comfortable letting your boys ride or a car or go swimming? Then you don't really need to worry about this specific thing that is 1/100th less likely to hurt them.

Everything in life is risky including eating and sleeping. Covid for healthy kids vs vaccination for healthy kids are both of so little risk that you simple don't need to worry about them.

If you have high-risk children (for any reason) then you have already gotten used to factoring in the pro vs con of almost all social/school/medical situations, and will continue to do so.

That's a pretty nifty false dichotomy. The choice isn't let your boys ride in a car or give them a vaccine, it's vaccinate or do not vaccinate. Considering the growing data in support of increased risk of heart issues, we only have one vaccine that even has EUA for them currently, most countries are choosing not to vaccinate kids for some reason, and the relative lack of risk of infection in the population in question it's amazing so many want to rush vaccination for this population.

The continued posting of misinterpreted data and subsequent refusal to acknowledge the inconsistencies is baffling (both "sides" of covid/vaccine/etc. beliefs do this). Imagine how much we could learn and increase our credibility if we were willing to acknowledge error sometimes.

Basically it's this:

This is a nothingburger and you shouldn't worry about it.

But it's 6x's more likely to occur than a severe Covid bout for kids.

So if I'm not supposed to worry about side effects of the vaccines I should care EVEN LESS about Covid in my kids.

So there is no reason to vaccinate your kids, since Covid is 1/6th of a nothingburger.

There scariest part of this is the article is behind a paywall and people are referring to "the data" that they probably got from the headline.

I don't disagree with your point and I didn't mean to seem flippant. The data on myocardial issues in vaccinated kids vs Covid infected kids is not clear and is skewed by such small sample sizes, my point was that both are minuscule compared to the risks most kids face on a daily basis.

My son will be 12 in December so this isn't an academic issue for me. It seems time that with delta, we're all going to get Covid, the issue is do we get it vaccinated or not. So far, for healthy kids, it's a statistical wash.

Maybe? I'm unaware of whether the studies done differentiate between kids with existing conditions that are likely to make them higher risk. Healthy boys of that age group are suffering from serious cases of covid at an very low rate, it makes sense to weigh which option (vaccination or risking infection) has a higher likelihood of a negative reaction. Is a healthy 13 year old boy at a higher, lower or same risk of heart issues resulting from the vaccine or virus than ones with health issues? Based on what KidDoc has said recently it doesn't seem like there is a lot of data with respect to the MRNA vaccines on that and I can see how that can make a difference in recommendations regarding the only vaccine approved for the age group.

Maybe one of the non-MRNA vaccines won't have the same issues but until it's approved in some form or fashion it's a moot point.
