To quote the article, why is it necessary to get multiple vaccines if it does not work??

Right now, some forms of vaccine effectiveness are slipping, but the most important ones aren't. Unless that changes, widespread boosters in already vaccinated countries are likely to provide diminishing returns, like topping off a drink that's already on the verge of spilling over. In the meantime, billions around the globe have yet to take a sip at all.

This is exactly the problem with boosters. The US, and the world for that matter, is past the point of no return. There is no one in this nation that is at risk and not by choice. If you want to stop variants and minimize further damage from Covid, the challenge is now one of global distribution and adoption in less developed nations.. The problems to be solved are in Africa, Asia, and South America, not politically right USA.

For what it's worth, my OB has said don't get the booster right now. If she changes her mind or guidance comes out differently, I would get it (currently pregnant) but she doesn't think it's necessary right now.

My mom who turned 90 yesterday and is in great health, I think should get a booster circa the same time as her flu shot. A question has been posed to her PCP so we shall see what he recommends. She's almost exactly 6 months away from her second Moderna shot.
