In shocking news you never expected:

https://www.foxnews.com/health/pfizer-bourla-covid-19-vaccine-resistant-variant-likely-emerge

Quote:

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla on Tuesday said the company believes a COVID-19 vaccine-resistant variant will likely one day emerge, though the company has a system in place to turn around a variant-specific jab within some three months.

Jab is the accepted term for vaccinations now.

And the cycle continues.

So the flu shot?

I'm so thankful to God that we have vaccines and boosters and can fight diseases. I'll happily take a booster shot every six months or annually the same way I do for the flu to avoid long-term lung damage from the virus.

I still have long-term damage to my vocal chords from pneumonia I had 10 years ago, so if I can avoid it, I'll do it.

Apparently, I was born with long-term damage to my vocal chords. I promise you would never want to hear me sing. I'm so bad, I only listen to talk radio to avoid accidently singing along with a song.

I'm sorry.

Fortunately I can still sing, but I do break off at times unexpectedly which never happened before. I just can't hold a note very long at all.

Sounds like something financially savvy for the CEO of a vaccine-generating company to say - one with 7.6B potential customers!

It should be no surprise if this ends up becoming an annual booster requirement like influenza. They've warned about that since the beginning.

The flu vaccine is not required or mandated.

Thankful as well and don't blame you or anyone for that matter. However, to play devils advocate.

This news coming from a guy making his company billions off COVID without ANY fear of lawsuit EVER courtesy of the US government says we should take more shots. We shouldn't be hearing it from him is my only issue as he has a major bias.

I think this should, and will, be an annual flu shot. They should set it up like that and compliance might be higher.

I'll need data that shows a booster actually decreases my chances at hospitalization or severe case from where it's at now. Last I checked as a vaccinated healthy 35 year old, I'm about 99.99983%. I won't just blindly get a booster every 6 months without data that shows it's necessary. Particularity if we can't get that distributed around the globe to higher risk who haven't even got a first shot

Last time I got my 2nd shot, I was out an entire weekend. Nope, both worth it unless data shows it's necessary to prevent a severe case compared to what I have now

There's data out there that suggests for many, natural immunity might last damn near a lifetime. At least in terms of preventing severe cases.

Yes it would be surprising. Coronavirus are different than influenza

I don't believe the bolded sentence is true. The Vaccine court system does allow for lawsuits. There is a system for appeals, there is a way to sue for damages. I've been around the anti-vax community for years, so I know they always say that, but the truth is a little more complicated than that, and there's a good, valid reason the vaccine court was established. (As a life long Republican I thought we were in favor of tort reform but either I was mistaken or times have changed.)

Actually, it may be true That the Covid vaccine manufacturers are immune from liability:

https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-are-pharmaceutical-companies-immune-covid-19-vaccine-lawsuits-1562793

And even under the vaccine court regime, which does not apply to Covid vaccine manufacturers, the vaccine manufacturers are not liable. Rather, a successful plaintiff recovers from a fund maintained by the federal government.
