Insurance companies starting to pass on the high financial cost of refusing to be vaccinated. Consequences

"The unvaccinated are essentially asking for a handout, a subsidy for their stance, and that's cheap talk. Standing up for your beliefs means being willing to take the consequences of them," he said."

Looking forward to similar articles about obesity and smoking.

Also, you have my word that if I come down with a wicked case of the sniffles I will not go to the hospital.

Did you read the whole article? All it is saying is that you may have to pay coinsurance, copays or deductibles. Same as any other illness.

.......which can quickly add up into the thousands if hospitalized--ICU costs are eye-watering.

Additionally, if insurance companies decline to cover the cost of employer-mandated weekly testing for the unvaccinated, that median cost of $127 a pop will quickly add up into the thousands, too.

I pay less for insurance both health and life because I'm not a smoker. My weight loss has helped me also lower both premiums and get me a credit on my employer subsidized health insurance.

Old news.

We pay $34 less PER PAY PERIOD because we have an annual wellness exam and have good blood numbers.

We pay $100 less PER PAY PERIOD because we don't smoke.

This has been the norm for years in company insurance plans.

Good. Some Covid patients are uninsured and the cost for those that are hospitalized are going to be passed to the rest of us with medical cost increases.
People who have insurance and refuse to take basic steps to avoid vaccine will lead to premium increases for the rest of us.
It's an economic lose lose for the vaccinated.

Weight has never been expressly part of the financial equation. If insurance companies want to openly penalize not getting A vaccine, then they better openly penalize obesity.

They aren't penalizing not getting the vaccine, they are simply starting to bill for covid treatment the same way they charge for everything else.

"A Kaiser Family Foundation survey last November found that 88% of people had health insurance plans that shielded COVID-19 patients from copayments, coinsurance or annual deductibles that might require families to spend $2,800 or more before coverage kicks in. Now that vaccines are free and available to all Americans 12 and older, insurers have scaled back those waivers."

Yeah, let's let gov take over health insurance. Pretty sure they wilould eventually raise premiums on privileged whites, in order to lower them on victimized blacks. Liberals blind faith in gov will be our undoing.

Similarly, shouldn't those that choose to not be vaccinated also choose to not go a hospital if they get COVID? Why put strain on a system that a non-vaxxer doesn't want to participate in in the first place? Seems to me a reasonable conclusion with the my body, my choice approach.

It is ironic that people refuse vaccination because they don't trust the medical system, yet when they get ill they immediately run to that same system for treatment.

People who don't want an emergency use vaccine shouldn't seek medical treatment? Outstanding logic there.

Not what I said. The illogic is not trusting doctors recommending vaccination and then trusting the same doctors to treat it when infected. I'm sure you'll come up with another "reason" when full approval comes thru next month.

What about someone in an accident that chose not to wear a seatbelt? A smoker battling cancer? Ooooh, what about someone that agrees to a treatment, after reviewing the potential side effects, that then experiences the side effects?
Same reasonable conclusion of my body my choice? Those folks also should not be eligible for further treatments due to their decisions?

Plenty of fat people raising fat kids, and secondhand smoke is a known issue. Sorry to interrupt your pearl clutching thread though. I totally agree with you that unvaccinated people should just die in a ditch instead of going to hospitals. We should blame them for everything we can because they're bad people.

Sooooo vaccinated can't pass Covid to someone else? The official narrative changes so often that I can't keep up.

Sorry I didn't realize that " Please show me a case of someone catching obesity or lung cancer from someone else while in public." was code for "please show me a case of someone vaccinated against obesity or lung cancer ending up in the hospital".

I completely misunderstood your analogy, my mistake.
