I currently have shingles and the doc told me to go get vaccinated for covid immediately. "You're immune compromised." Any issue with having a down immune system and receiving the vaccine?

You were at your doctor, why didn't you ask them?

Sounds like you got your answer. From you know, your actual physician.

From what I've read, your chances are far better with the vax than with CV which you probably will be exposed to eventually.

I thought I remembered reading that you shouldn't get the vaccine until you are over shingles? Wait until you are well?

This is what I was asking. Didn't think about it until after the appointment. It was telemedicine and not my normal doc. Just polling the message board to see what people know.

Make sure to schedule your shingles vaccine too when you feel better.

Shingles sucks!

Ask your doctor. TexAgs is not your doctor.

Pretty sure I read that you should wait two weeks after the blisters are gone to get the Covid vaccine. It's a great question. No reason not to confirm what a doctor says if it doesn't sound right. My sister died of a blood clot two days after her doctor told her she was fine.

Shingles is Chicken pox that has been chilling out in a pain neuron waiting to come back out and party. Something happened that lowered your immune system function and now it is back to visit. The trigger can be poor sleep, stress, other infection, steroids, etc.

I rarely see shingles as a pedi but I agree get vaccine soon.

I really appreciate you sharing this! I had shingles in 2019 and could never really figure out why I got it in my early 30s despite being in good health. Looking back, that was the middle of my shoulder injury and I was not sleeping more than an hour or two at a time before waking up in pain. Makes sense now....

Sorry for the derail but thanks for your contributions to this board!
