A friend from my son's sports league is currently at Methodist Willowbrook ICU with Covid induced pneumonia. His wife has been fighting with them for almost a week trying to convince them to try giving him Ivermectin. They refuse despite nothing else working and intubating him this morning. She has been told that UMMC will administer I-Math Protocol and is trying desperately to get him transferred.

He's not an Ag but he is a ridiculously nice guy and a devoted father of 4 grade school boys. Email is in my profile. Please email me if you have a contact I can share with his wife or knowledge of any other hospital where he can be transferred to receive treatment other than remdesivir.

ETA a couple of the hospitals in Houston have been trial sites for the drug, so the attending might have access to it. If not, there's some contact info in this link for people in the Houston hospital system and for NRX's expanded access program. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04453839

There's plenty of info on the internet regarding the trial results. Increases 60-day survival, reduced length of hospitalization, and reduces cytokines. US FDA has been processing their EUA application for about 75 days now. The drug just received EUA in the country of Georgia, Ukraine, and a couple other Eastern European countries.

I'm not a doctor, but I've followed the drug closely for the past year through the trials. The main thing is that there are few side effects, so it doesn't really hurt to try. It works by protecting the alveolar type II cells that are attacked by Covid, so the earlier it is administered the better odds of it working.

There's plenty of literature online about trial results. I've followed most of the treatments and this is the one that I would choose for myself or my family. Just offering up the info. Do with it what you want. I'm sure some will dispute my claims since it doesn't have FDA approval, so it's up to you and your doctor. Just passing along information in hopes that it can help save a life.

I am sorry for your friend and pray for his recovery.

I wish stories like this would help people understand why Covid needs to be kept in check. Hospitals can not take proper care of people or have access to all treatments when they are overloaded everywhere in the state and many neighboring states. Get vaccinated to avoid these worst case situations for your families.even if you have a break through inflection, you won't end up in the icu with friends asking for help and relying on prayers.
