So it looks like I'll need a Moderna boost in about 2 months.

Just go to CVS? Any idea if they'll balk? What's the best course of action?

I've wondered the same thing. I just had my 6-month-post vaccine antibody test done. I'll get the results tomorrow. If it has decreased significantly from my 3-month level, I'm going to find a location with Moderna and get a booster.

If you are in Texas, antibody testing is free, easy, and tells you if you have antibodies from a natural infection or from the vaccine. https://sph.uth.edu/projects/texascares/

Is a third show even allowed yet? I asked my doctor and it was like division by zero.

Can't you just tell them it's your first dose? I doubt there is a national registry they are checking before the injection.

All too brief reading says it's prob best to wait for a literal booster version to come out so it covers more variants.

Good news is also saw it shouldn't be needed until somewhere in the 8-12 mo range.

Just like natural immun, opinions differ on effectiveness length. Just don't know enough.

The Moderna booster information, while based on trending good data, was during an EARNINGS REPORT not a medical conference. Guess what any company wants to tell stock holders.... that they are going to increase earnings!

I would wait and see what the actual data shows in a few more months. Also hopefully they will have a delta specific booster as that is the biggest issue in USA right now.

Thank you. This month I'll hit the 6 month mark. So I'll sign up.

In a few months delta may not even be a blip on the radar at the rate it burned through other areas.

Got both shots of Pfizer in January. Just recently recovered from a mild breakthrough case. Not getting any booster since I think I'm good for a while.

Doubt one is needed for 99% of people. The highest of risk or people who just don't have a strong immune system? Maybe. But we have vaccinated 15% of the world right now. Utterly ridiculous to give healthy people a 3rd dose here in 2 months. Utterly ridiculous we also aren't basing anything on previous infection.

This "waning" immunity is bogus. Are deaths and hospitalizations in vaccinated occurring at anywhere near the rate as before? Last I checked, it's still statistically keeping you safer than most flu seasons

Vaccinated and natural immunity win out. Like human history has shown with all coronavirus in history

I hope you realize that the point of the vaccine is not simply to make your body produce antibodies now. It is to "prime the pump" so that when your body is exposed to the virus in the future, your T cells can fight the virus and your B cells can rapidly make antibodies to fight the virus. That is the two pronged approach to the immune response to infections (cellular and humoral immunity). Low antibody titers do not mean you need a booster, or the vaccine did not work. Routinely checking one's antibody levels is a waste of time. Yes, I am a physician, but did not waste my time to get the red cross after my name.
