When did you get the vaccine? It takes a few days to kick in. My wife got Covid after her first shot.

You could have just gotten COVID at same time you got vaccine. Probably not from the actual vaccine.

correlation != causation. You might want to get a 'vid test

Yes, I have heard of a parents friend who lost senses after vaccine. Not much more than that anecdote.

I would bet a lot of money that the vast majority of adverse side effects to vaccines outside of formal "studies", never make it into to official vaccine stats. Just like my false negative PCR test (and many others) didn't impact the tests reliability rating.

SARS-CoV-2 is suspected to infect sustentacular cells that support sensory neurons in the nose. Loss of the sustentacular cells = loss of smell.

As the two most common vaccines (mRNA) code for only the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and not the full virion particle that would allow for replication and destruction of sustentacular cells (or any cell type of that matter), I find it incredibly difficult to believe that receiving the vaccine would have anything to do with loss of taste/smell unless the person was already infected with the real virus.

My understanding is that people may lose smell from covid because of your body's immune response. If so, it stands to reas that an the immune response from the vaccine can also cause this symptom?

My family Doc said the similar thing. Active immune response to the vac is a good thing.

I had a blood test the day before that showed no antigens. So unlikely, but not impossible, to have contracted prior. Wife remains negative, not sick (this is TexAgs) as well.

I don't think you lost your taste and smell from the vaccine. You likely have Covid. My daughter caught it several days after being vaccinated, prior to it becoming effective.
