45 years old. Had both Pfizer vaccines in April. Last night, started a slight tickle/cough. This afternoon, developed a 101.2 fever that responded to Ibuprofen. COVID rapid test Positive this evening. Wife is vaccinated w/ Moderna x2. 11 year-old son had it in November, but we never got it. 8 year old daughter never had it. Neither kid vaccinated.

What is the consensus on what I should do at this point? I have a slight cough and no fever at the moment 4 hours post Ibuprofen.

You have a slight cough and no fever? Sounds like you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want.

Call in sick. I recommend The Last Kingdom. I'm watching Halt and Catch Fire.

You are choosing to quarantine. You don't have to do anything. This isn't North Korea.

Might as well take the time to relax with some sick days and avoid the possibility (who knows what the chances are) of passing it on to someone who is non-vaccinated and/or at-risk.

I dont get why its hard for people to understand that vaccinated people can spread it.

So stay home and enjoy time off you likely won't be very sick but you could be helping others not catch it

Wouldn't hurt to get a script for invermectin. Stay home, hydrate and peruse the thread from Dr. Rev.

Hope you feel better.

Sorry that **** changes. If everyone was vaccinated this wouldn't be an issue. Since 40% (to 70% depending on where you live) aren't the people who have been responsible get screwed again.

Man, I don't get what is wrong with some people. I don't care if it's Covid or the Flu or a stomach virus. A reasonable thing to do is stay home and keep other people from getting sick. Sad that you actually criticize someone for thinking about others.

Never could stand the people that came into work sick acting like they were heroes because they came in sick when in reality they just came in and got everyone else ill.

I know but it was a lie, its causing the spike and I have been saying it for months. Gave ppl false sense of security.

Again may lessen symptoms but its not a polio vaxx

Actually it's very similar to polio vaccine. If half our population weren't vaccinated, we'd still have polio in this country.

But polio has a 99.95% survival rate and the vaccine is experimental and most cases have no symptoms. /s

would it?

I thought this variant came from overseas

where the naive human reservoir remains and isn't vaccinated at all hardly

I never understood the line of breakthrough infections are the fault of the American unvaxxed

they should get vaxxed nonetheless but not sure why they are responsible (see Israel for a more vaxxed nation dealing with the same problems)

Staying home while sick is a reasonable thing to do. Quarantining for 10 days for a slight cough and no fever is absolutely bonkers.

I was merely pointing out that no one can force him to quarantine for 10 days. He is choosing to do that himself. Plenty of people would love for the government to do forced quarantines but fortunately that hasn't happened. Yet.

Amazing that people forgot what to do when they are sick during this ordeal.

Got a fever? Hang out at the house.
Don't got a fever? Manage you symptoms and get on with life.

You're making this too complicated. It's just a zero-order diffusion problem, where the unvaccinated are gas particles in a closed system. Increase the concentration, and exponentially increase the number of collisions.

You are a COVID positive so despite the fact people here will tell you do whatever you want, I suggest you do what's right for the people you come in contact with and isolate.

agree

but there is going to come a point where we don't proactively test for covid and strict isolation isn't required

right?

Actually we were all told the reason we needed everyone to get vaccinated was to avoid a variant that breaks through the vaccine. People were too afraid to be vaccinated and therefore we are all once again dealing with a Covid resurgence and exactly that. (The fear thing, that's how it works right, just say someone is too scared?)

And, IMO, managing a fever by taking meds is not the same as not having a fever.

To be clear, I was looking more for medical/supplement advice. I am quarantining from my family and work for 10 days from the start of symptoms as recommended.

It will come a whole lot sooner if we were all working together instead of working against one another. Here's an idea, if people would use the readily available vaccine we'd likely be there now.

The official narrative is that the delta variant came from India. But I guess if all the Neanderthals in the US has been vaccinated it would have prevented the variant from emerging in India.

but the delta variant didn't come from the US

and the OP is vaccinated

so at what point do we react to variants originating from parts unknown with indifference?

i guess what i'm curious about is what it the endgame here

if mortality and morbidity have been uncoupled with cases, then what's the next step? is there a % vaxx figure that ends this? because this variant is clearly infecting vaccinated people and making them vectors.

i know a guy who got the bug at (small) spreader event where everyone present was (reliably) vaccinated

so if those variants are going to be thrown at us constantly (typically from poorer, unvaxxed nations), then how do you return to normal?

Was the baby that was there infected or is this a different super spreader event? I can't keep track now.

Idk, but qualitatively, the low vaccination rates are are assuring that everyone will get Covid at some point. I'd rather face it vaccinated.

This country is a funny place. We talk a lot about personal responsibility, but when it comes to footing the bills for self-inflicted medical problems, it's always somebody else's job to pay for it.

baby did catch it

everyone is fine last time i checked, but they all were symptomatic

in that respect the vaccines worked well

The uncoupling of deaths and infections needs to trigger a change in Covid policy.

I'm not sure we are there yet, but I know we will be very close if not there after this summer wave.
