She is 90 years old. I signed up through the Dallas website but haven't heard anything about her getting an appointment and it's been over a week. What else can I do?

Also register with the major grocery store and chain pharmacies like Kroger, Alberstons, Market Street, Tom Thumb, Walgreens, CVS, etc



Also, manage your expectations, Its going to likely take more than a couple of weeks to get an appointment

I've been able to get a few 1B's an appointment in Austin. I doubt you'd be willing to drive that far, though. There are ways and it doesn't seem like the waitlists are the best option.

The Tarrant wait list is estimated to be about 3-4 weeks. I imagine Dallas is similar. It sucks to have to wait while watching folks get vaccinated in every local news show, but her time will come if you get her in the queue.

It seems like the best option in the DFW area, is to be a current patient in either the Baylor Scott and White or UT Southwestern system. If your grandmother is a current patient of a doctor in either system, be sure you get the MyChart app. And register her there. They are contacting current patients ( last 3 years) via their MyChart and posting appointment times for you to schedule. I signed both my husband and I up with Tarrant County on Jan 10 and has not been contacted. My husband who has doctors in both those systems got his first dose last week at UT Southwestern and then got an email to schedule with BSW yesterday. My bad luck that my last UT Southwestern appointment was four years ago so I was not able to schedule there.

Hopefully she gets it. Dallas' flawed system means that anyone can use that link when in reality it was only supposed to be used by those on the Dallas County list that were invited (totally flawed system they are trying to fix). They say they are canceling anyone who books without being invited. What a clusterF of a process

Yep. My mom went to the appointment and they turned her away.

Same thing happened to my parents and the initial round of vaccines being given by Memorial Hermann here in Houston. You had to be invited by MH as registration and appts were only for "established" patients even though they were listed as a vaccine hub by the state.

I did what another poster had done and subscribed to a few different local news station apps (kprc and KHOU here in Houston), made sure notifications were turned on, and waited until they would release news on what hubs were giving out Vax next.
