It does depend on the test. Real time PCR, which most of the diagnostic tests use, monitors the amount of amplifications in each cycle. You can tell how many cycles it takes to get a certain level, and the number of cycles is inversely proportional to the amount of viral RNA.coolerguy12 said:
The part about the sensitivity of the PCR tests was really interesting. I explained it to my wife this way.
If you're making a cake and put in one grain of pepper you will never know. If you put in a cup of pepper the cake is ruined. This test would just tell you if there is pepper or not.
Really irresponsible what has taken place with data from these tests.
Thanks for sharing. It's nice to see Doctors go against the grain for what they believe to be truth even when it's not mainstream.

I think the difference there is the test can tell how much pepper but the media and test reports only tells us how many have pepper.
I ran a 10K on Sunday wearing a mask. I did it because of nasal allergies. Allergy issues are realistic for me right now. Covid issues while running cross county are not a realistic issue. Stupid leadership is in charge right now.coolerguy12 said:AgsMyDude said:

Exactly. When "asymptomatic cases" became a thing that should have been great news. The virus spreads easily but isn't dangerous to most people. Let's quarantine those at risk and let it burn out in the healthy. Instead we used it to make neighbors afraid of each other and force masks down everyone's throats.
My neighbor's daughter had to wear a mask for 4 miles of cross country last week. This is sick. It needs to stop.

And btw, I started running 120 days ago and haven't missed a day since. I started running to lose weight and get in better shape both for my personal desire and just in case I became infected I believed I wouldn't be as at high of risk. I've lost about 25 pounds and feel much better. Thank you Covid.

I used to, 10+ years ago, do massive road cycling. Much more fun than running but requires more time. Some day I hope to return to cycling.Tailgate88 said:Congrats on your improved health, but ... username doesn't check out!AggieBiker said:

Starting Strength
Muscle mass is being found to not only keep you stronger, help you keep off weight and make you look better, but also muscle mass in studies is shown to increase and boost the immune system. It's harder to kill that which is strong!
Best compliment one could give me. Rip is the uncle everyone wishes they have.AggieBiker said:Thanks Mr. Rippetoe.Capitol Ag said:Now read this and your journey to the Dark Side (or really, the healthy side) is complete:AggieBiker said:

Seriously though, Cap you are correct that I need to incorporate strength training as well. I will be 59 soon and I know it is important for my bones as well as tone to do weight training. I want to meet some more running goals first and then incorporate other activities including strength training.
Yep, down about 35 pounds here, eating less and putting in more steps per day (little over 11K/day) since covid!!! Have a zero turn mower and a push mower to take care of two yards...using push mower about 10 to 1...AggieBiker said:
