Carol was older (75) and lived in rural Illinois. Small town of a couple of hundred. She had a "care checker" that would go by her house to ensure everything was good with her. Turns out that this care checker didn't believe in COVID or practice any non traditional hygiene practices. Carol got sick and went downhill fast. Within 2 days of being admitted to the hospital she was gone.
It's a cluster now. My wife's immediate family in the area of her aunt is blaming the heath care provider. The care checker is supposedly sick but refusing to take a test. With that said, a bunch of her rural Illinois relatives didn't really practice social distancing or above normal sanitation practices and would often go to check in and be with Carol as well. Most of them have taken a test and have come back negative though. I don't know if it's misinformation, uninformed, or non belief, but the daughter of Carol took her test and immediately went back to work at the local school, had to be told by her employer and the State DHSS she was not allowed to be there until her results are negative and escorted out of the building. Funeral is being planned, not certain how that's going to happen. Most of the rural Illinois bunch older and we're all hoping that this doesn't become a close proximity event with family/friends converging from out of town. I can't think of a worse type of environment to have a bunch of older relatives where people are crying, sobbing, blowing noses, and hugging as they grieve. My family of 4 will stay put and send our condolences.
Carol was a good Aunt to my wife and had many fond childhood memories. She'll be missed.
