The Tatiana Prowell that posted the twitter link is NOT who did this surgery as far as I can tell. i THINK the outrage is directed at her Tatiana, but I am still not sure.

Every interview I saw with medical professionals said "this will cause a spike, at least most are wearing masks, if you attend the protests make sure you get tested"

I am not really sure what more they could have done.

Again. Every interview I saw with medical professionals during the protests was that this was a bad thing for the virus.

They were as vocal about their concerns for these protesters as they were for the haircut brigade

I think the issue the second level of outrage wasn't reached on social media...nobody tried to cancel the protestors because while its easy to mock folks wanting hair cuts, not so much in terms of what has been happening around the BLM protests.

Its not the doctors/healthcare workers that drive wider visibility, its the opinion makers taking that voice and amplifying it. That didn't happen.

Hate to redirect from political angle but that is a stunningly bad lung. It looks almost solid, no wonder they could not oxygenate her w/o ECMO.

Can you tell which is the cause and which is the effect?

Did she have a
bad lungs and that made the covid worse and this was an expected outcome?

Or the covid caused the bad lungs and this is something that is shocking in how it impacted her?

Group of doctors made a written statement to the media saying racism is worse than covid, go protest. There was a screenshot from a news report (can't find it anymore) that said 'go protest that is ok, but the rest of you stay home and practice social distance.

It was ludicrous. Sorry for the continued derail but that is what happened.

That's my question, we're her lungs already damaged and was it intensified by COVID?

According to Northwestern all COVID damage, below is from their article.

"How did a healthy woman in her 20s get to this point? There's still so much we have yet to learn about COVID-19. Why are some cases worse than others? The multidisciplinary research team at Northwestern Medicine is trying to find out," says Rade Tomic, MD, a pulmonologist and medical director of the Lung Transplant Program.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see that conclusion in their article. People have asked if she was a smoker, vaper, etc. I could easily see where someone could be a 20 something smoker while still being categorized as "healthy".

It looks very bad but I think we are working without all the facts.

Just my uneducated guess, but the potholing on the lung tissue seems like leftovers from a cytokines storm.

Friends of mine had a coworker pass away last week after a near month on ECMO. 23 y/o nurse in Ft. Worth.
