Major metro areas like SA, Houston, and DFW probably shouldn't put it off any longer. They're at the biggest disadvantages fundamentally.
Other areas can afford to wait and see how the pseudo-lockdown is working.
I would bet the cities were waiting on what the Gov did first, now that they know he's kicked it to them- i could see the major cities moving to shelter in place on Monday
You might be right, but that's piss-poor leadership.
Much like "all politics are local," the impact of coronavirus is local. The healthcare resources being used are local, the characteristics of the community in terms of population density and related issues, and the number of infections are local.
States waiting on the feds, counties waiting on states, and cities waiting on counties has never made sense.
The most egregious example of this is NYC. They needed to move hard and fast a long time before they did.
I'm hopeful that our major metros fare much better due to better fundamentals in terms of populations density and dependence on public transportation.
