In California, their governor expects 25,000,000 in his state alone in 7-8 weeks! If 1% die, that's 250,000 deaths. That's the worldwide total deaths for a year+ of swineflu.

Hospitals in Texas were not estimated to be in trouble until late next week. Fingers crossed it doesnt happen, but the hospital issues will hit NY, WA and CA first, then us a week later.
I can see Hermann in Houston and Parkland in Dallas having issues. I doubt other places will.
Why do you doubt that?
Not saying you won't be right, but what #'s have you seen that lead you to believe we're not going to have hospital issues?

Are there any issues with PPE running out yet at Texas hospitals?

Also, I think we should benefit from all of those private ERs that have been popping up over the last couple of years. They should be able to help with the non Covid cases, and leave the major covid to the big hospitals.

Those places are the devil for non immediate life threatening emergency based on what they charge. I would never go there unless I was about to die and couldn't make it to a regular er. You will get hit with a massive bill that insurance with either reject or only pay a tiny percentage.

Hospitals are not overrun in Texas
Even if you ignored China, Italy, Spain and NYC that sentence should cause everybody to sit up and take notice.Quote:
We are not at max capacity at this point, but we are close. This disease is so delicate, we could tip the scale at any moment.
I don't have an official count, but based on what I've seen working this weekend, there are probably more than 10. I suspect less than 20, though.aginlakeway said:

Agree. It will go up unfortunately ...Hodor said:I don't have an official count, but based on what I've seen working this weekend, there are probably more than 10. I suspect less than 20, though.aginlakeway said:

Know a nurse that works at major hospital in Houston that said lack of PPE is a big problem. Wonder if we have the ability to manufacture any in the US or if it's all been offshored?Ogre09 said:JesusQuintana said:

Yes. My sister-in-law is a local ICU nurse. They are having to reuse masks 5 times.

Yep. Seen some sick people, at least one younger than me (as I get old, that's of course more common anyway).
Mostly I've seen normal CXR's on young people with cough and shortness of breath. Talking to a couple of ER docs it sounds like there are a lot of paranoid, healthy people coming to the ER, and putting themselves at risk.
