I am currently using a car battery with a power converter to get electricity to power a fan at night to sleep since there is no AC and the sun was out today and heated our home. My question is, will plugging the battery back in the car and using the alternator to charge it be enough to charge it fully to use through the night and during the day to charge cell phones, etc? Or should I buy a new battery if I am able as a spare? One method burns valuable gasoline to charge it and the other is scarce and expensive to buy a new battery.

Basically, what is the best way to keep a car battery charged without being able to use a batter charger since there isn't any water?

While I'm at it anyone in the know have an idea when both power and water will be back on better in Beaumont? I just want to gauge how much and need to ration resources and food, etc?

Thanks in advance! Gig em!

If you don't have a solar charger plugging it back in to the car will work. Things should be back to normal, or close, in a week.
