Ok Texags I need your help.

We have 2000+ families many of which have lost everything at the high school I work at. Mayde Creek High School is right next to the Addicks reservoir. I am working with a group of teachers to organize supplies for families. We can't use money or gift cards but we need every day supplies.

This will bring buyers to a list of things they can purchase that will be sent directly to us so we can distribute.

If you can forward this out to your contacts and ask that they consider purchasing at least 1 item. If you cannot afford to purchase an item forwarding on the info alone will help our families tremendously.

This is a devastating time for many. If you have been unaffected and want to help in some way, please consider doing this.

Fantastic way of providing direct support of exactly what is needed, especially as needs change. But have you verified through UPS or FedEx you will be able to receive these shipments?

Just to echo the above comment, I have had several Amazon orders placed last week delayed multiple times.

C/O 2000. Will you have a drop off location next week. Cleaning out office and have a lot of Binders and things I don't need.

The HS finance office is responsible for accepting all deliveries for the school. They will have enough on their plate the next few weeks.

Have the PTA or booster org accept it. It spreads out the work and is still above board for tax purposes. Thats how my school is donating. Plus giving items means you need a place to store them. Its a logistical nightmare when things really pick up and then you have to pay for shipping in transport. I get why people want stuff dontated but straight up cash is the way to go.

I do appreciate everyone's questions, comments, and concerns.

With the possibility of 2000+ families affected handing out money and gift cards is not possible. There is too much accountability involved in handling that amount of cash or cards. Then you run into the problem of splitting it up. Everyone gets $10? Everyone gets $20?

But then you say, use the money to buy the goods we need. But you have to remember, many of our stores are not fully stocked currently. We have had 1000's of dollars of goods bought. How do we haul all of that to the school without needing a caravan?

We have been in touch with Amazon, since this is a disaster relief effort, and they are assisting us with deliveries.

Again, we've thought all these things through. Will it be difficult to get all these items distributed, yes. But we have students, teachers, parents, and staff that will all be helping to divide and conquer.

Amazon continues to email me telling me my delivery is in Katy, but has been delayed due to a weather event. Hope delivery can happen soon!

Shared on FB for my fellow MCHS alums c/o 90 and placed an order. Have been quite sadden that all 3 Mayde Creeks schools were impact though I only went to 2 of the 3. Thank you for posting your wish needs and letting us know how we can help directly with recovery.
