Any info from bay city would be appreciated. I have family who have evacuated but have homes, businesses, and property there.

Bay City's mandatory evacuation has now been changed to voluntary. The city was reported in pretty good shape as of this morning though power outages are abundant. River cresting level has been reduced from the 56' foot level predicted on Monday.

HEB and walmart are supposedly open (not sure on hours)
Several gas stations open
Water / sewer restored
Still power out in some areas (ironically my house had power all the way through storm til 10am this morn)
The expected flooding is still yo occur but at a much lower height

Lots of cars moving around in bay city today. River projected to go 1 foot over bank. Most of the town has power but not all. Convienice store was open and I think there is gas at a few places.

Roads in western matagorda county in pretty good shape for now. Wharton county is wet... Flooding this afternoon in Glen Flora and Newgulf.

Lead - I'm seeing that that the river will crest at 46.1 feet on LCRA site- starts about 9 tonight and stays that way for about 18 to 24 hours. Family went to my moms house yesterday to empty out refrigerators and freezers. She has been without power since late Friday night. Her power was still off at 6:00 last night.

There is a video on FB of Bucees in Wharton being flooded. Looked like walmart there may have been ok but no one would be able to get to it.

Bay City still has curfew tonight but HEB and Walmart open, along with many gas stations.

Yesterday there was power out and a lot of water in the road between the two canal bridges. There was a tornado during the hurricane that damaged some houses.

Went down yesterday to Live Oak Bend. Creek was at same level as last major flood, but expecting it to rise.

Bill Orton has been giving some good updates w/ pics on facebook. Search 'Sargent Beach Property Owners Association'

SARGENT/CEDAR LAKE
PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION
Please everyone keep in mind although the storm has past the flooding hasn't. Caney Creek and Cedar Lake will continue to rise so use extreme caution when traveling through high water. Several roads in Sargent are flooded at this time. The level of water will go up and down so don't think because it's lower at times were through. The bridge to the island will not open until the flood waters recede and current slows. There is still no electricity in some areas including Canal Drive. If you have a safe place to stay I would urge you to stay there and maybe coordinate with someone who may already be here to check your property. If for some reason you need to be rescued during the flooding we have the National Guard here with us to help contact myself or the Matagorda County Sheriff's Office. Keep in mind we do live in the country so as waters rise so will the snakes and other animals looking for higher ground.
I'll continue to update you till we're through this. Below is a list of roads that have flooding.
Caney Dr.
Creekside
Oak Circle
Seagull
Carancahua
Gulfview
Marina Dr.
Sargent Ranch Rd.
Stevens Rd.
You may feel like the water on some of these roads may not look very deep but keep in mind the damage can occur beneath the asphalt. Matagorda County will continue to have a curfew from 8PM to 6AM until further notice. We will continue to provide the area with additional law enforcement for the safety of you and your property.
God bless you all.

Anyone know if Business 59 is open in Wharton? All the maps I see show it open. Have a relative hoping to use it to get to 59 North of Wharton.

Wharton OEM FB pages notes Peach Creek is out of its banks north of town. Not sure if that has or has not made Business 59/60 north impassable at this point

Coming in to Wharton from South, part of 60 was closed, but skirting on N Alabama worked. He was able to get through from Business 59 north there, to US59/I69. This was around 2pm on 8/30.

Wharton flood levels near the river appear to have crested. But other places in town further from the river still receiving rising water. Maybe from peach creek? Maybe just takes a while for the flood to travel through storm sewer?

Was just told that the bridge over the Colorado south of Glen Flora on FM 960 (going towards Crescent) has "washed out". Second hand information, so I am not sure how to interpret "washed out" in this case. Am also told there are homes south south of the Colorado on that route that are completely submerged.

Simonton just crested, and was at least a foot and a half higher than last year. So if you are down river, I promise you it has not yet seen the worst.

For the sake of clarity, the Brazos runs through Simonton.

The Colorado runs through Wharton and Bay City.

(I only mention that because this thread is focused on Wharton and Matagorda Counties.)

Colorado River is still over 10 feet above flood stage in Wharton and is expecting to stay at that level another day to Friday or Saturday! Eventually going back into banks by noon on Sunday. Current level of CR is over 50 feet with flood stage at 39.
