I moved here awhile ago as I have elderly parents and bought a house around the corner so we could take care of them. Long story short by the time I got home from being out of town for work to take care of my family then getting my parents ready to go we got turned around and sent home as the one outlet to 59 was underwater. We went down Sienna Springs to 6 and got to our church, Sugar Creek Baptist Church, but they were already at capacity. So we went back home and are riding it out. Did not choose this and really we moved as quickly as possible in our situation but it did not work out.

I'm in Steep Bank West, my slab elevation is 60.5', and I guess this one is gong to get close. Scary, stressful, praying for the best. Anyone else out here still in the subdivision?

GEA, praying for you and your family. Anything I see that might help will be passed along.

Hang in there -- the downhill to this is on the horizon.

I left... we live in porta rosa.. as of 30 minutes ago we only had water up to the drive ways. My elevation at the curb is 59 ft and 60 ft at the front door but I don't think that matters much.

Did you check the map the judge sent out about the river cresting and what homes should be fine ?

I did and I am good at 56 but in the pink on 58. I was told the color means you will have water on your property if you have color but whether your home will get water inside depends on how high your builder built your foundation. I do understand the physics of a levee, once it is breached the water will fill to match the level of the outside water. So that's what I meant by being close.

Got it. I don't know physics that's for sure!! I'm still confused on that map if it's just for when the waters top the levee or the levee fails or if that's even the same thing???

It is for when the river tops the levee.

Praying for you, John. The Lord has brought you to mind so many times over the last 3 days. I'd hoped that y'all had been evacuated. In Judge Herbert's news conference, it sounded to me like it was possible the Brazos may crest below 59'. I have nothing to go on other than just knowing the Judge and sensing it may not get there.

But then again, our hope isn't in a low resting river, is it? It's all in the Lord.

God bless you and your family. I'm praying for you.

Thanks WW, I sure am being tested the past few years huh? But my whole SE Texas is and so far we are blessed, I can't help but believe that won't change. You are right, 59' is a projection and I assume it is forecasted with some pessimism but regardless it is possible for it to be less, I assume more is also possible so trying to stay real here and hope the rains cease soon so we can absorb more in case of the worst.

Cross post from the Sugar Land thread-

Look at your survey and if your slab isn't at least 61' above sea level expect water in your home. If the levee is topped expect to be without power, water, and sewer for weeks.

Stay safe... let's pray for the best... we should probably have a Texags Sienna happy hour once all this is over whether it be a few weeks or a year.

I did get out with my wife and two year old and have come the realization my house may flood as I think all bets are off at this point. I'm having another crown and water and going to bed!

Johnny, Hang in there.

God is Good. He will see you through regardless. I know how you feel. Just went though flooding here.

If you have sand bags and can bag the door and those openings on the bricks you can get yourself another few prescious inches.

I've been trying to get a text back to you for awhile but cell service comes and goes. Here is my text response:

Ok, streets not flooded but ditches are full due to the heavy rains that still have yet to stop. The good news is the rain is supposed to move east as of midnight or so. Hopefully enough will drain before the river crests just in case any water makes it over the top. Those on the other side of the bridge are already experiencing flooding. That area is not as high as we are

Just an FYI the river gauge height is an arbitrary elevation, not related to MSL (mean sea level). It is most commonly related to the elevation of the river bed.

You can google what the correlation of each gauge station is to MSL if you really want to find out what say, 59' on the gauge is equivalent to. Just wanted to clarify that for y'all. Most likely the gauge height is a higher number than the MSL since the river bed must be higher than sea level otherwise the river would not drain.

Things are pretty dicey along Scanlan Trace toward Scanlan Oaks Elementary and over to Ridge Point HS. The Waters Lake area basically. Must be lower over there. Lots of water in that area before the crest. We are hosting a family from Sienna at our CS home this week, as we lived in Sienna for several years.

One thing I'm trying to get my arms around is the crest date. The graphs I see from respected resources show later this week but some of the Sienna folks are being told today (Tuesday) at 6 PM. Tuesday seems too early but there is so much information thrown around that I'm trying to find some clarity on this.

County engineer just stated they expect the water to reach 2' below the top of the levees and the only concern is a levee fail from the pressure of the water. Not predicting it just stating their concerns.

Please post a link to the Sienna Plantation elevation map you have been talking about. My son and family made it out safely yesterday and just arrived in CS.

Things are looking more optimistic but we are still in high alert so don't let your guard down. Our friends in the back section behind Ridge Point are really suffering.

Could it be from the levee break down south along the Brazos in Brazoria county?

Randy Mcilvoy with KPRC is in Sienna. Looks like a lot of street flooding but the homes looked dry still. Specifically he was on scanlan trace east on the north side of the golf course.

It's probably because the storm has moved easterly quicker than initially expected and there is less upstream rainfall occuring.

Delacorte Lane. All I know is that they were rescued by boat and are at a hotel. They have young children, so maybe they decided it was time. They were exhausted, so I haven't spoken directly to them.

Update: water not in house but rising too fast for their liking. Decided to not risk it.
