We can use this thread for people who are interested in rain/flooding conditions in OF/GO.

I guess I'll start: The wife and I are out of town and I'm curious what the rain's doing lately. Doesn't look like we've had much over the past few hours so hopefully all the drainage is getting some time to actually drain.

Checking in from Del Norte Street in Ella Lee Forest just north of Candlelight Park.

Rain has been steady all day, but ditches are moving. I think we can hang in there at these rainfall rates, but we will see what the night brings. I think we are OK if we can make it through tomorrow morning.

I'm off Ella between 34th & 610

Its been raining pretty steadily for a while now, but not hard enough to cause concern. White Oak Bayou has raised a little since this around 11am, after going down significantly over night.

Lots of traffic on the streets. Berryhill, Thomas BBQ, Papa Murphys and a liqour store were open.

Sounds like the hood has made out OK so far. I would think the bayou would have to take a significant turn in the wrong direction at this point for any 500 year type flood - is that accurate?

For clarity - I own a home in OF, but I am temporarily out of state on an assignment for work.

Edit: CDUB and E - thanks for all the info, been following yall on the big thread over on the Tine board.

I drove down Rosslyn/E TC Jester all the way to Ella a couple of hours ago. No problems at all.

When coming back, I ventured over to W TCJ between 34th and 43rd. No problems there either. Amazing to think that area was several feet underwater yesterday.

From what I've noticed, It seems like all areas in 100 year has been flooded or had water up to doors.

Are you on the 'hood Facebook page?

I saw a pic of a sinkhole in at the top of hte bayou wall near 43rd earlier today. If that goes, God help all of us between Rosslyn/34th/43rd.

Normally the OF Facebook page is full of unintentional comedy, but I have to say that I've found it pretty useful and actually kinda hilarious these past few days.

Not on purpose I'm not! My wife follows it - usually a haven for crazy people.

How bad have the homes been flooding in the 500 year flood plane?

The lady complaining about a guy swinging an umbrella at her is amusing.

She failed to mention in the OP that she threw a stick at the guys dog first.

They're both in the wrong.

I have found several other posts pathetic and amusing though. Mainly those centered around people who cannot seem to take care of themselves or didn't plan for food and want to know who is open.

I'm not sure where the plain ends, so I can't say.

Also note that I have zero clue about anything on the West side of the bayou.

It's kind of tough to gauge flooding based on the flood plains. My brother is in the 100 year flood plain but hasn't flooded, yet I think there are places that aren't in that flood plain which have flooded. Best bet is to get your wife to post on that facebook group asking about a certain street/area, you should be able to get reports directly from people in the area.

I'm roughly near Verdome and Costa Rica (West of bayou, north of 43rd). Verdome was a river overnight, but we've mostly stayed dry other than a leak in the roof.

Also, MytiBurger has been open.

You'd have to be insane to attempt Mytiburger.

Every land manatee in the hood has herded over there.

Repping Althea and Oak Forest. Neighbor reports close flooding, but no indication of interior water. Most worried about our trees falling at this point.

Going to try and come home tomorrow. But only if our internet is back on!

Can this be Cottage Grove as well? I moved out of state and have my house sitting there empty...closing on it in 3 weeks. Haven't been able to get many updates on conditions.

CS. Cdub is right.

Models showing us on the west side of the system in the morning to mid-day Tuesday. Hoping the rain will fall off a little and we'll make a run for it.

And then turn around and find a way to Fort Worth. My bone marrow donation is still on for Thursday, but they can't do it here. Ugh to all of this.

Absolutely.

If you give me an address, I'll try to check on it tomorrow.

Not legal to drive at the moment.

Please remind me as well via PM.

I can't tell if you are receiving or giving.

Any shelters in our area or within driving distance, not blocked by floods? My work is cancelled tomorrow and I'm free to help.

Giving.

It's been a 3 month long process culminating in an out-patient surgery on Thursday to harvest. Dude on the other end has already started the chemo/radiation to receive the donation and it's irreversible.

I live one house from the 500 year plane on LaMonte in Section 13.

No water got into houses before Glebe. The houses closest to TC Jester had flooding on my street, as well as Gardenia.

I think Black Middle School is being used as a shelter.

Dang. Mucho kudos to you, sir. Even as a donor, if I understand correctly, it is a VERY painful process. I hope things work out for both of you.

I have been amazed at how fast all of that drained. Also, Wakefield between Donna Bell and WTC where we live was rapids last night. Thought it wake up to a disaster last night but it was like an ordinary rainy day and the bayou was down significantly. So far so good here.

I'll be under for it. Recovery is only two days in bed. Concern now is the extreme fatigue from loss of marrow, decreased mobility and 10# lift limit for two weeks. None good qualities for stripping floors and drywall in a flooded home. Really hoping we stay dry.

I have a buddy supposed to get married in 2 weeks at the Bell Tower off 34th between Ella and Shepherd. Is that area flooded?

I was able to drive down 34th past it earlier today with no problems
